L’Equipe again linking us to Mbappe. 1 year left on his PSG deal come June. Looks like a straight choice between us, Madrid or staying at PSG.

I have to say that I think there’s something in this. I’d still fancy Madrid to get him, but I think we have a strong chance. Apparently we were in for him the year before he left Monaco. Klopp met with him and his family in-person and Henry even had them on his yacht.

Paul Joyce mentioned a while ago that Mbappe is seen as the ultimate signing by FSG and its easy to see why. His contract situation means that there’s a fair chance PSG would do business, and not at an astronomical rate, plus he’s a Nike athlete and common sense dictates that they’d love him to represent a Nike team, especially given our profile. His wages would be enormous, but I wonder if Nike can help with that.

On the pitch, it’s becoming clear that we need to freshen things up a bit and look to bring in some younger talent given our front 3 are all around 30 now. I could easily see a situation where one of Salah or Mane looks to move on this summer. Most probably Salah actually. Mbappe is one of the few players that is an upgrade on what we already have.

I think it would need the sale of Mo and one other for this Mbappe to become a reality. Yeah there is talk of Nike 'assisting' financially in a deal but Im not sure I like that any more than I do selling Mo + 1.

Mo + Origi?

Vincent Duluc, who’s a brillant journalist and L’Equipe ‘s head of football, said we are an option but Real is still the big favorite to land him.

Psg could sell him to welcome Messi and balance their squad, but they really want to keep him.

So it’s all on him to make up his mind. He’s mostly playing at the right hand side of the front three, so it would be an obvious replacement for Mo.

It would make sense but I reckon at the moment he’s not as good as Mo, and can be a lazy bastard. He’s not improved much the past two years. People often talk about Neymar and M’Bappé, but they are not on the same level, Neymar is a class above.

Mbappe may not really offer value for money, is the problem. He's great, but how much better will he realistically get? Will he put up Messi or Ronaldo type stats at some point? That's kind of doubtful. He can for sure score about 30 goals per season and be an absolute menace. Is that worth about 200m? That's the question.
