Upamecano is an interesting one. He’s pretty smart, honest , hard working, very ambitious. He’s good obviously but a bit sensitive, emotional but still very young.

French media always point out dream club or favourite one when young. For Upa, never heard of any. He’s pretty silent.

What about that Croatian lad at Marseille. My nephew thinks he is very good. I’ve never seen him play.

This is a list of centre backs out of contract in 2021. This is the 1st page of 4, but I decided it was probably worth stopping at this point with names like Luiz, Rojo and Sokratis at the bottom of it. I'm assuming we'll be shooting above them.

Would like Declan Rice but he would cost a bomb and I reckon he has Chelsea 2021 written all over him. Seems like a good lad and can play centre half and midfield.

Would never have thought we would go for an Alaba, but after signing Thiago, I reckon there is a chance. World class player and can play in multiple positions.

I don’t rate Rice at all

Not sure if he is really good enough at least at the momemt but I've not watched him much.

He would make some sense though as we are very close to the limited with numbers for home grown players.

We end up having to register youth players as homegrown when they could be left out the squad and still play

Fair point. He's very good but isn't good enough to start right now. In a few years, he could be really top class though imo.

His versatility is something that really appeals to me though, especially with the amount of injuries we are having.

Every time I watch rice, I think he's fucking shit. People keep saying how versatile he is, but he'd join us and become our worst midfielder and worst defender. He'd be fit more often than most of the squad (certainly Gomez, matip, Henderson, fabinho, thiago and keita) and Gini is likely to move on in the summer, but aside from not getting injured much and being English, I can't see what's going for him.

Interesting article in The Times today. Looks at an AI player recruitment tool and suggests Tah is our best option for CB.

Also suggests Sanchez's best move (for him) is to Liverpool.

Sanchez? As in Alexis Sanchez?
