I watched Mean Streets a few months ago and even then Scorcese is way ahead of the curve with the soundtrack. I'd say The Departed soundtrack is the best he's done but he got the mood perfect with Goodfellas.

I’d say Tarantino outdoes them all with Pulp Fiction to be fair. All great though.

Great music, but Scorcese has a unique knack of picking cheesy pop tunes that should be wholly inappropriate to the drama of the scene, but somehow fit perfectly.
