He deserved more time. Did an amazing job last season but these things aren't long forgotten. The Brewster signing probably hasn't helped.

He spent upwards of £40m on Brewster and the goalkeeper Ramsdale, and that is part of the issue for him and them. They've had a couple of long-term injuries which is tough on a small squad in a congested schedule, and they needed to replace Dean Henderson when he went back to Man Utd, but they'd have been better off spending that money on 3-4 players who could at least give them some depth. Ironically, Wilder might have got more out of Brewster if he'd agreed to the 5 subs rule because he would be able to utilise him much more often instead of having to be pragmatic due to only being able to use 3 subs.

Probably hyped by our club to create a bigger selling fee. Seems mad we didn't want to sign strikers because we needed brewster to see a path to the first team or so a lot of LFC Internet youtuber/podcasters claimed.

Yes, it seems on reflection we’ve done this with a few youngsters. We realised they weren’t good enough, but kept bringing them on for the last 5 minutes of high profile games, talking about them to the press etc. They were just a business asset. It’s smart.
