It's a legit rule and they actually got it right there. If a sub is deemed to have entered the field of play and touches the ball, the opponents will be awarded a free kick. If that touch happens to be inside the penalty area, a penalty will be awarded. The sub who touched the ball should then be booked for entering the field of play without permission. There would have been no issue if the sub had been well behind the dead-ball line and stopped the ball as the ball has already been deemed to be out of play.

Normally it's the South American champions but Palmerias lost to Tigres then lost to the Egyptian club in the 3rd place play off.
