Maybe not the right thread but there is a good article in the Times Sport supplement today about a  Josef Bican, a prolific goal scorer in his day.

He played for Austria against Italy in the 1934 World Cup Semi, the Wunderteam, and an infamous refereeing performance where the Swedish referee nodded the Austrians incoming cross away amongst other things.

What would VAR have to say about that? He was still angry about it a few years before he died on 2001.

I bet Dave Prentice hs done an article on him and paralleled it with Clive Thomas.

Yes,how many times do hear about Clive over the years.

I wonder what happened to the Ref in our semi against Inter Milan in 65? I'm sure I read he got done a few years later for being a bent cunt, not sure.

Imagine when Clive Thomas dies, the bitters will do tons of articles on him how they could never forgive him.

Yet they have been laughing at us for moaning about Pickford clattering Van Dijk.

Newcastle a goal down to Leeds already. How in the name of God did we drop points against them. Every time I see their results they seem to lose

Soucek has two already, the little twat. Couldn't manage even one in 180 minutes in the last round of Fantasy Football when I captained him, but now he has a brace after 25 minutes.

Can you captain him next week?

I'm fully expecting Burnley to concede at least three in their next game.

Regardless of our injury situation. Our players need a kick up the arse, they are way better than the 6 relegation teams who have handled them. Klopp too takes some blame United learnt from the league game and took advantage, we just kept exposing the same weakness and have been for a while. Our away form has been enough of a sign. Its frustrating because its clear we are miles better than this.

7 pts clear of us incoming for The Cheats.

7 fucking points.

What a disaster the last month has been results wise, Everton could go 4 ahead if they win their games in hand. As great as these lads have been the last month just hasn't been good enough from anyone.

    • I know.  That's the perplexing thing for me.  We can't play players like Thiago (or Keita) and then launch the ball to the front players who then get picked off by a deep lying well organised defence.  I genuinely think Klopp is exhausted, and has been for some time.  The charismatic thing isn't working for the players any more, because if he's not feeling ti and believing it, you can understand why it doesn't work on them.  His supportive nature is probably a bit old hat now for some of them, and those players might increasingly regard him as being a soft touch, so are not putting the effort in.   I'd give him the rest of the season away from the club to allow him to get well.
    • Zaha always reminds me of Curtly Ambrose
    • Seeing Fab back in midfield gave us a brief glimmer of what we've been missing. I thought we improved, attacking wise, massively when he came on and only proves what everyone has been saying about missing Hendo and Fab in midfield.   I say persevere with whichever two CBs are fit and shove Fab back in the middle along with Hendo if he plays again this season when it comes to the league. Kabak may be a better signing than we think with Fab and Hendo in front of him.
    • Who gives a fuck about negs?   What I want to know is what the fuck has happened to a team that swept all before them? What happened to our angry, passionate boss who used to lose his shit if he lost a throw in? None of this is normal. Even when we were shite, such as under Souness or Hodgson and even Ged at the end of his reign, we fucking still created chances and scored goals.   FFS the man is going to get himself the bullet at this rate if he doesn't wake up, get with his staff and sort out a new approach to stem the tide.   Again today he played EXACTLY the same way as he has been for weeks with no result and a weaker fucking team. Visiting teams to Anfield don't even have to plan anymore because they know exactly whats going to happen.   Don't get me wrong he's got credit, certainly from the fans, but he won't get it from a bunch of hedgefunders if we start sliding backwards over the longer term.
    • We always were on that ticket with these owners. It's not far off guaranteed that we will act like we always do in the transfer market, and probably be even more tight. My worry is that Klopp doesn't want to start afresh.  Building on top of succes is one thing, starting from scratch is another, especially with the emotional energy and enthusiasm Klopp puts into his work.  We're not at scratch yet but in one summer it looks like several first team players may need replacing, it looks a hefty job.
