Under last season's protocol, this wouldnt be a penalty in anyone's mind but, having witnessed what we have this season, that was as much of a pen as the one given against Robertson at Brighton and several others Im aware of, given after.

 

Despite keown, richards and the rest of them claiming the defender got a touch on the ball and it moved, it most certainly did not. Neither can they used inferred touch either. There is no deflection of movement on the ball which means the defender didnt get a touch. The defender made contact with the attacker. Again, normally not a pen in itself but they've been giving them.

 

And there is the inconsistency we all hate, same kind of 'non pen' but they give some and not others.

If there was a touch on the ball from the defender, it should have resulted In a corner. The ref has made an error as he gave a goal kick. Goal kick = penalty. Corner = no penalty.

Honestly can't see Arsenal getting any more than a fortuitous point, from a 0-0 at home to Chelsea. That's only because Chelsea may fail to score through their own efforts, including 'No-finesse Werner', rather than Arsenal actually managing to defend well.
