If it wasn't for shit goal keepers we would be on 8 European cups by now.

Nah we wouldn't.   Madrid won that game when Salah went off injured and we had only shite on the bench.

Something we've still not addressed and don't look like doing so this year either.

Bayern looked quite ordinary outside of the Barca extravaganza. Lyon could easily have got ahead of them in the semi with better finishing, and PSG should have been ahead here too. Neither team could cope with the power and stamina of Bayern as the game went on though. That's a problem we would never have. Definitely think we would/could beat Bayern over 2 legs or in a one-off tie - we would push them back in the manner they have pushed other teams back. Its exactly what we did to them last season. Next year the European Cup should be number 1 priority.

I would fancy us maybe 60/40 to beat them over two legs, but they are the first team to win every single CL game in a season so suggesting they are ordinary is a bit one-eyed.

Why are you applying seasonal logic to a competition that did not have 2-legged knockout rounds and has never been repeated in CL history? It is not remotely comparable. Do you think Bayern were outstanding against PSG last night, or indeed the first half against Lyon?

They are clearly a very good side but the Barcelona results was not in line with what followed in the semis or final; do not think they're in the class of their previous EC winning side or indeed the great Madrid side of the mid-10s.

A bit concerned and confused by Chelsea transfer strategy.

History does not bode well for teams that make 5 or 6 significant changes in a single window, as they might. Lots of young players coming in, too. Bump me if they come within 12 points of us next season .

They aren't very good, have lots of areas to improve and have money to burn from a couple big sales. Would be confusing if they weren't buying a bunch.

They already have good potential young players coming through. Signing all these players will surely impede their progress. Plus all the egos that may be looking for game time has increased.

Klopp has always worked with a small squad and we have seen the benefits of that ideology. This is the other side of that coin; overflow the squad with proven talent.

I do think they've bought one too many attacking players. Agree that one of Havertz and Ziyech is looking like a head scratcher when they've got Pulisic and signed Hudson-Odoi to a long term deal.

It's all a bit Liverpool-under-Brendan, isn't it?

I can't see how they're going to line up, unless it's with a super unbalanced 4-3-3 like:

Kante

Havertz    Mount

Ziyech   Werner   Pulisic

It could be a lot of fun to watch, actually. But with Kante being limited in his mobility these days, they will concede a lot of goals. There will be a lot of 5-3 games if that's the team Lampard runs out there, and I think he will. He really should find a way to get Havertz into the front line, but I don't think he's bought him to play there.

Pulisic aside it is very questionable whether Chelsea have many existing good young players coming through. The likes of Giroud and Willian (who had his best ever scoring season) bailed them out after lockdown. Abraham & Mount (for example) were utterly ordinary after the first few months fo the season. The defence remains a complete accident waiting to happen and introducing Thiago Silva probably unsettles it even more. Think he will be more of a David Luiz than Van Dijk. Let see.
