Absurd offside decisions in City's favour again.

I'm not being bitter, I think our own title challenge is doomed anyway, but City have benefitted from yet another palpably ridiculous offside interpretation.

Perhaps tonight's ref didnt receive PGMOL's memo before the match started? Not watching the game so dont know what the call was!

We never benefit. Even when salah was legitimately fouled in the area and we recieved a penalty there was media outrage.

Comes a point there needs to be a proper evaluation of VAR being used properly or not.

I think the calculation on effectiveness would, on the face of it, be number of goals VAR has given that were flagged offside plus the  number of illegal goals it has ruled out.

But the additional consideration is the loss of flow and letting bureaucratic lines be drawn all over a sport that has thrived on beauty and luck.

In trying to create something scientific, it's been done so badly that it's absurd. Why isn't Cambridge University overseeing the geometric considerations of offsides?  Why is some amateur sat deciding where a line is drawn?  Why is it on shite FPS cameras?  Why aren't lasers used across the pitch? Because it would be fucking insane to take it that seriously, that's why.

So why not drop the pretence, and retreat to a safe and effective use of VAR that enhances the game, helps the refs, and doesn't disrupt spontaneous joy.

VARs only job should be checking on serious foul play, and penalty decisions.

If we lose on Thurs we are effectively 10 pts behind these.

That is fucking staggering.

What a turnaround in fortunes.

The sheer number of teams around us is going to make it very, very hard. I suspect that we’ll need to put a 10 game winning run together almost immediately to be likely candidates for fourth, something that is improbable at best given FSG’s abject failure to invest at the most crucial time. Forget the Manchester clubs, we can essentially consider Leicester out of sight in third if they win tomorrow and we fall at Spurs.
