Ouch. A lesson for all those who thought Chelsea were going to transform into some almighty team this year -- you can probably count on one hand the amount of sides that improve when they try to transfer-in 5 or 6 new first teamers in one go (ironically 04/05 Chelsea probably the brightest one). Meanwhile history is littered with failures (us & Spurs to name two big recent examples). To make matters worse, they've completely neglected their weaknesses.

Chelsea have signed all good players, but people said it this summer, it's all a bit Football Manager. Lampard will have to figure out how to fit them all in and play them in advantageous positions and he's failing miserably thus far.

It just looks like they signed a bunch of quality and Roman said "alright then, figure it out". No plan whatsoever.

I don’t know what he’s supposed to do. He looks like a complete wisp of a player; I’m sure he had something about him to prompt the hype (and ridiculously inflated fee), but it’s clear he’s far from the finished article and, as you say, his wouldn’t be the first young career poleaxed by an ill-advised transfer.

He's played 4 competitive games for them & in that time has already played 3 different positions and been subbed off once. He's only 22 - his head will be all over the place & he'll have no idea what role he is supposed to be playing. For me it speaks volumes of Lampard's arrogance - there is not a chance in hell Klopp would take a young signing from a foreign league and move them about the pitch so much. A lot of sensible voices have praised Havertz highly (Rangnick just compared him to Cruyff) & his statistics were impressive, but this kind of management is going to make it really difficult for him to push on or find any consistency.

It’s got a bit of Brendan about it hasn’t it, Lampard’s early handling of this.

Stroke of managerial genius making Cryface Silva captain by Lampard. Bet their longer serving players are thrilled with that one.

Said it a while back but it's the tim sherwood school of management, if they perform well and you give them a hug at the end of the game you paint yourself as some sort of horse whisperer, it works well if it's Maradona and he's been on the sauce because he's got the blues, doesn't really work if it's a defender who's older than Yakubu's socks.

He's always been a great talent Silva but in terms of leadership, not so great. As Everton fans would say he's a leader without being a leader, but he is a leader.
