The Brighton lad who got sent off for 'reckless' or 'dangerous' play was really unfortunate. Where does 'recklessness' start and end? A direct free kick in front goal - the ball is absolutely slammed, deliberately and with lack of concern for the defenders in the wall and it hits one flush in the face. The force of the ball hitting him knocks the defender out and he has to leave the game concussed. The referee awards a corner.

I'm not asking for players to get red carded for incidents such as that but, surely, there is just as much recklessness and danger involved as the incident in today's game. The rule makers in this game are gradually reducing it to a sport where the physical presence of the competitors is reduced merely to running and dribbling. That may suit players like St Maximin, yet I wonder how long it will be before tackling of any kind is outlawed.

The great  majority of overhead kicks must be fairly similar in recklessness to the Bissouma incident, as you have very little idea of the position of a player behind you.

Some chode on NBCSN just said Leicester were challenging us at one stage last season? Was that the first day of the season?

Fuck knows; they were eight points behind us after 10 games, and ten points back (in second, to be fair) when we beat Watford before going to the World Championships.

Kane is no doubt privately upset that another Spurs player got all the goals and glory today. Very naive defending from Southampton. Kept getting caught out by the same tactic. Good finishing from Son though.

Can't believe that arsehole Mourinho interrupting Son's MOTM interview to suck Kane's balls and say he should have got it.

Apparently Juventus are interested in re-signing Morata on another loan-to-buy deal (he was there in 2014/15). Morata is a bit like Fabio Borini. Does the business when he's out on loan somewhere but as soon as he's made a permanent signing, his club are looking at ways of shifting him out again.

Harry Kane will be appealing to the Football League for an unfairly denied hat-trick...
