Macclesfield Town wound up today for debts of half a million quid, after being relegated from League Two to the National League. Macclesfield were docked points by the EFL for nonpayment of player wages.

It’s all a bit shit really. 2020. The year that keeps on ‘giving’.

It's one for the 'Shitness of Modern Football' thread. Gareth Bale currently gets paid more than that in a week to sit on his arse in Madrid.

Exactly. Most people here supported Macc & one of the Manchester clubs. Why neither of them couldn’t have helped the club out prior to this with a friendly match.  Never mind. 146 years of history all over now.

Sadly I think this is inevitable unless something changes. Lower league clubs live hand to mouth. I dont know how many have managed to survive with no fans in stadiums.

And what fucking use is 1000 fans in a ground to anyone? Utter joke.

Wages and loan fees apparently

That may be the "total" fees but I would be surprised of Spurs pay half of that.

Edit -- I hope they do, but they won't. This is a guy who has scored @ a dozen golas in the last two years. TBH I think he will not do much if he comes back - so I hope he does.

Half his wages is £15 million plus a £5 million loan fee?

Ridiculous to even consider - this is a guy who never scored 20 golas in a season playing for Real Madrid in fuckin La Liga. He had a single good season for Tottenham - think he will get found out real quick in this league.
