I feel pretty unfamiliar with Dire Straits back catalogue, I know money for nothing and Romeo and Juliet but not the 2 songs in this thread.

One of the best and most important albums in the history or rock which still sounds modern and subversive, versus some tepid 80s plinky plonky music you'd have in the background while people are chatting at a cocktail or dinner party.

To be fair,Mark Knopfler is a legendary guitarist and songwriter so no shame on the Pistols here,whom I enjoy myself.

The question is best British band though. Not most important album.  Even it it was I'd vote for Dire Straits as I've always thought of the Sex Pistols as more of a gimmick than an band.
