Disabled Care

Starting this thread as my mum is the primary care provider for my Dad who has really been taken down with MS. It's her responsibility to provide the care required as homes have all said he would need too much care levels.

For the last 6 years they have had a regular care giver who works 18 hours per week and my two sisters then provide additional help 8 hours each per week which is all paid for by Social Services but there is the possibility that the person working 18 hours per week may be moving on soon. This has got my mum worked up and she's panicking.

Does anyone on here have any experience or knowledge of where to try and get decent private care (perhaps there is a magazine/network/website that puts people in touch with caregivers)?

Any help/pisstaking would be of course welcomed with open arms.

You could advertise online on the common job sites and interview yourself which would be cheaper than going through an agency. Make sure they have an enhanced DBS and solid references (Like proper solid, as there are some absolute cunts working as care workers).

There was a time not that long ago when services like this were provided by government and local health authorities,it wasnt perfect but it helped. Now obviously you know how little help there is due to your own circumstances. Fuckin bastard Tories.

My wife and her disabled Mum had to care for my wife's Dad for about 10 years before he passed in 2007. I wish I could help but I genuinely hope you get something you are happy with. Good luck.
