Well, the are no Tears For Fears.

Another ridiculous tie. Draw should have been done by UEFA.

It’s the nature of the beast but some quality bands have gone home early in this competition. The cream will still rise to the top in the end though. By cream, I don’t mean Cream. I obviously mean The Rolling Stones.

Great band, but never liked his voice and he's such a cunt I doubt I'd vote for him even if I was into his music.

Bolan on the other hand, taken too soon, Marr's hero and supported the likes of the Damned despite having a totally different audience.

Not from me. I’m consistently voting for the losers, every time.

To be fair, that is a strategy - just an unusual one.

On this vote, I had the same strategy.

Easy, The Smiths.  Comfortably the best thing to come out of Manc.

Don't mind a bit of The Buzzcocks and The Hollies, New Order too.  Everything else is pretty shite, hate that whole Madchester scene and sound.

The Smiths though, wonderful.

Went to school with a lad who adored Bolan and skipped school for weeks to sit around the tree that he crashed into with other admirers / hippies. Not too popular with the Brothers who ran the school , but eventually he came back and was allowed to pick up his A Level year. Weirdly enough he ended up a copper.

The Smiths for me.

Johnny Marr’s guitar playing was one of the few musical bright points of the mid-80’s plus he he’s still cool as fuck whilst also seeming to be a very nice man. A rock legend that I’d love to have a pint with

Proving  that he probably didn’t need the other bloke anyway

Another one who’s book is, if you haven’t already, well worth a read.
