British Band Tournament ... (Like the Sitcoms)

A US version would be more open, more unpredictable and probably more fun. Loads of soul and R&B acts too, which would mix things up quite a bit.

Yeah, the UK can mix it at the top with the Beatles and Stones, then Led Zep, Pink Floyd, and one or two others but the US has far more depth of quality and variety.  It would be pretty impossible just picking a top 64.

CCR,Beach Boys,and a few others are in the mix. Then you have maybe bands such as The Four Tops,The Drifters,The Temptations as well as those hair metal bands that were more popular in the US than here.

I don't think the US has anyone near as good as The Beatles, the Stones or Led Zep.

Really can't think who would win it. My music taste are far more online with US music. Its only really the 60s British invasion stuff that does much for me from the UK. For me the top 3 in the UK is Zeppelin, Stones, Sabbath.

Why impossible? You ask everyone to list up to 30 or so bands, alphabetically, they think should be included and award one point for each mention. You give people 3 days or something. You will get up to 20 replies and based on this create a list of 64 American bands that mean something to users. Than the tournament begins.

Sounds a bit democratic. Not sure how we can blame Stig for omissions.

I just think, more so than this British one, that a lot of it is going to come down to "which, if any, of these two bands do you listen to".
