Unique words in pop song lyrics

Recommended Posts

His producer bet Bob Dylan he couldn’t write a line that rhymed with Mozambique.

Hence:

With my baby down in Mozambique, we were dancing cheek to cheek.

Dylan sang it with a straight face too.

A lesser man would have burst out laughing.

The producer's a fucking idiot - beak, geek, creek, seek, freak, chic, unique...

Carter USM had an incredible nack of mixing up common phrases, advertising slogans and the English language in general. One of my favourites of theirs is

"There's an all night chicken takeaway that was fingerlicking closed"

My niece posted something on Facebook the other day.  Her 7 year-old son has been going around singing

Anonymous teapot,
Ritz cracker womp bomp,
Burnt set of aardvarks

Apparently, it's a real song (although, y'know, those aren't the right lyrics) and she's challenged us to Name That Tune.

Great song. Hard to listen to it without getting something in your eye.

Not a pop song, but the Australian national anthem

There is a line in there that goes "girt" by sea

This is a shirt definition of girt = to bind or encircle

I guess it would sound strange if you sang bind or encircle by sea
