Ray Kennedy Boss Player

He was successfully converted from a centre forward into a hard-working midfielder with an eye for goal to become a key component of Sir Bob's great 1970s team. There are still loads who says that that midfield quartet of Case, Souness, McDermott and Kennedy is the best we've ever had. RIP Ray.

In my opinion, it was.

Steel, guile, ability, commitment, power and absolute class which Ray Kennedy was an essential part of.

A very sad loss of a brilliant player. Loved him.

Rest well Ray.

YNWA.

Wand of a left foot, got his fair share of goals, made loads of chances as well, brilliant move by Bob Paisley to move him to midfield and he and Terry Mac ran riot while Souness sat and dictated and Case filled in whenever.

Brilliant, underestimated player.

True legend of a club with so many legends, hope he rests in peace now.

Thanks for all the memories Ray.

Who can forget the goal he scored in Munich 1981 with his right foot an absolute peach as well ,  remember listening at home no live games in those days just the final and going mental when he put it away took us to the final that goal .

RIP Ray sadly another legend leaves us YNWA

Great video Caramac. Eyes got a bit damp though early on when there was a shot of Ray, Emlyn and Brian Hall all together celebrating a goal, all now sadly gone.

We've lost a lot of heroes.

Yeah, it is. Always fondly remember most Liverpool players, but especially those who were in the side when I first started going to Anfield, as were Ray, Emlyn, Tommy Smith and Clem.

Very sad news.

I'm ashamed to say I'd forgotten him when it came to something in particular: watching Mo Salah control the ball reminded me of someone, and I couldn't quite work it out.

Possibly it was because they play/ ed on opposite parts of the pitch but both players could/ can just kill the ball like no one else.

Underestimated by many experts but, as others said, rated highly by other managers.

It is an honour to have seen this legend play.

Shanks on his final signing.

“He is big, brave and strong. His signing means that we now have the greatest strength in depth that we have ever had. He fights all the way and he was at the top of my list of my wanted men. I’ve seen him in training and he looks good. He reminds me of Rocky Marciano.”

He was local to us and my friend's dad used to play with him when they were kids. Presumably both for New Hartley Juniors, unless it was county football as my friend's dad played a lot for the counties and also played for England schoolboys.

Couldn't speak highly enough of both of the Kennedys and Phil Neal who he knew really well.
