You sign players to get on the pitch. If they get on the pitch and perform, the cost almost doesn't matter. Thiago his whole career has consistently failed to do that.  That's what made him a stupid signing and no amount of people wetting themselves over training ground clips or no look passes will change that.

What the other fucking crowd waste on players is irrelevant. They waste money everywhere because they're stupid cunts.

Exactly this, a quick look at his career is enough to see he's missed a large chunk of playing time everywhere he's been, why the thought that signing him as he is getting in to his twilight years career wise would suddenly mean he would start becoming more available is a little mind boggling to me.

Fucking joke, but hopefully that's him done here now and it'll remove the temptation for Jürgen to utilise him any further this season.  I was really disheartened to see him come on last Sunday, thought we'd moved on from him, alas it looks like the manager's hand will have to be forced in that respect.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

It's a farce. Hopefully the club won't be daft enough to renew his contract in the summer like they did with Ox and Keita before.

I’d be happy to keep him for another year on a pay-per-appearance deal/ drastically reduced wages. What’s in his head is very valuable and if you can get 15-20 games out of him, all the better.

I genuinely find this mentality hard to understand

Outside of our annoyance, this must be heartbreaking for Thiago. He will have worked so hard to get back after such a long time out and to then break down almost immediately must have been devastating for him.

Surely he must be used to it by now. A lot of his career has been like this and this particular injury he came back from in April and broke down, had an op and should have been back for July and has been a month away ever since. Which just suggests he's always been close and then just breaks down. So I reckon it's likely it came as absolutely no surprise to him or anyone else. His first injury here was another one where he was 2 weeks away all the time, but people gave him the benefit of the doubt because he was hurt by an Everton player.

My feeling is he's done, they all know he's done but everyone was trying to get him fit for a swansong.

No one is in a lather i just find it funny that people rush to defend a feller who started less than half the games we played and featured in just a shade over 40% of the mins and call his contribution significant.

We all know midfield was a revolving door because we were chocker with injured players - with useless crocks like Keita and Oxlade in squad - an ageing Milner...The only reliable midfielders that season were Henderson and Fabinho. Thiago may well have played the 3rd most mins in midfield that season but that feat didn't even cover half our games/mins.

I see this a lot. Nobody with functioning eyes and brain is saying that the signing of Thiago has been anything other than dogshit. What I do see is people calling out bollocks that he's been one of our worst signings ever or that he didn't have a significant contribution in 21/22.

At least we can all agree that the signing has been dogshit.

For clarity I've never said he is one of our worst signings ever. I do feel he is one of the most disappointing and as for 21/22, we've done that and agreeing to disagree was my last word on it.

You’ll be lucky to get 15-20 minutes.
