Thiago Alcantara

I'm waiting for whatever the club announce. A bit naive, I know, but that's how I learn about our signings. You know ....leaning on things at Melwood and such. I'll still check in, though,.

We’ve got to get this deal done. Even though we’re well stocked in this position opportunities  to sign ready made world class players don’t come around very often.

Get it it done Reds*

*fully expect another premier league club to sign him

Rummenigge told @julienwolffwelt and me @WELTAMSONNTAG
about Thiago: „We are expecting an offer these days.” And: „It was important for him that he showed that he can play well in the big games. When he leaves Bayern munich, that hurts a bit“ #fcbayern #LFC

Just get him signed you fucking cunts.

Then there's this:

Fabrizio Romano @FabrizioRomano 4h
Thiago Alcantara is waiting because he strongly wants to move to Premier League this summer. Liverpool are still in contact with him but Bayern told again 2 days ago they’re going to sell Thiago only for €30m. Jürgen Klopp wants Thiago too. It’s up to the clubs.
#LFC #Bayern

Even this guy is a bullshitter, I can see this being true.

Yep, they'll be down outside Ed Woodward's summer house in their Norwich scarves shouting 'Solksjaer is bobbins.'

United would be a big step down at this stage of his career. Domestic and European champion, stock has never been higher.......and you opt to go and be told how to play football by the ex-Cardiff boss

Klopp and Edwards aren’t stupid.  They will know exactly what Thiago wants to do and how late they can leave it because they will have told him how the club plan on going to sign him if that’s what they plan on doing at all.

The most obvious thing to me seems to be that Thiago is going to stay there another season just as Gini will here and then they both move at the same time for free.  Thiago hasn’t said a word throughout this whole thing.  Bayern are constantly talking and briefing the media about how he has to be sold this year, the price he has to be sold at, how they expect the bid from Liverpool, Man City and now Man Utd, how he was waking around the stadium with his family which was a symbolic farewell.  It’s never ending from them as they try to drum up business for his sale.  The reality is he can just refuse to go anywhere and walk out for free.  What may happen is that United or somebody come in and offer him a lot more money than us like the Werner situation but that could happen at any point anyway.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see if we are waiting to see if this happens and if it does we then offer Gini a four year deal.

Given the fees will be similar why does it make any financial difference to Liverpool wait a season to do these transfers ?  Not having Gini around for a year, with his mind on Barca ,would seem a good reason to get them done asap. Of course it could be Barca fucking about trying to delay it all until next summer but given they're desperate for new blood I doubt it.

    • It's the 'more money than sense' syndrome. They dont stop to think who is better to bring in. We've grown tired of this one, we're bored, let's chuck it away and use the money to bring someone else in.   This is the thing with martin samuel's 'let them spend cash' mantra. It emboldens fans to think they know better and when the old regime has served it's purpose, bin it off and spend more cash to replace it.
    • Yup. It's why they desperately want him to sign a new deal despite the fact the team looks to be in decline and he's someone who has only done great things in periods of 3, 4 years.   It'd be funny if he left after this season because I bet the club would be gutted, yet their supporters would probably be happy with it at this point.
    • Thing is with Guardiola, they signed Soriano and Begiristain before him with the intention of eventually bringing him in. The whole structure is built for him.
    • Maybe they should just adopt the clear and obvious test for offside. If it's clear and obvious at first sight of the computer lines  then it's offside. If not, advantage the attacker.
    • A complete burk.   I was thinking about this last week. I'm not old enough to remember Souness, Smith, Case etc but they had players like Reid, Sharpe, Ratcliffe, Van Den Hauwe etc.    What about the tackle on Jim Beglin?    From my time going to Derbies, our OTT tackles have been significantly less than theres. I know Gerrard, Kyrgiakos, Kuyt, Baros and a few others have gone OTT but compare it to some of the shit we've endured from Ferguson, Fellani, Van Der Meyde, Mirallas, Barkley, Pienaar, Funes Mori...   Have any of their players ever been injured to the same extent as Beglin, Origi or VVD? Suarez was lucky to walk away from that challenge by Mirallas.   A quick Google will tell you Everton are the side who have collected the most bookings & red cards in the Premiership history and we're the team they've collected the most against. They've had 15 players sent off to our 8 and we've not had one dismissed in 10 years. They are lucky it's only 15.   Even looking back in history on Wikipedia, they have more reds against us when the our players that jabroni was quoting. They quite clearly have an issue against us.
