We have had the absolute pleasure of watching both Alonso and Thiago play in red.

Sublime footballers both of them, its simply a joy to watch Thiago play now, just like it was with Alonso when he was here.

I think people have had valid concerns over his availability since he joined us, but hopefully he’ll get a Matip-style clear run now. Our medical folk seem to be absolute wizards.

I love Alonso but I genuinely do think Thiago is a better player at almost every aspect of the game. He leaves me gobsmacked with his skill set half the time.

Scans have confirmed Liverpool midfielder has Thiago Alcantara suffered a hamstring strain.

The Spain international will now face a spell on the sidelines but the club are hoping the problem is not serious and he could return to action within weeks.

The 31-year-old was forced off early in the second half of the Reds’ opening Premier League match of the new season at Fulham last Saturday.

No timeframe has yet been put on his return and he will undergo another scan later this week to determine the extent of the problem.

Excellent player when fit, and brings things to the team that no others in the current squad can do. Which sort of makes his fitness record an even bigger problem, he’s so influential and hole he leaves in the team when injured is massive.

Saw a stat the other day that said in games he started last season our points per game rate was more than enough to win title.

 

In games he did not start our PPG was running at a rate that would see us get around 81 pts over season.

I’m annoyed at our ineptitude here- Klopp saw through Sturridge and addressed it.

 Stats are great but the reality is he is going to miss lots of games so you have to sign an alternative. He played his part in a woeful performance at the weekend.

 

Not sure, but I’m guessing he’s on a very high wage- he wants to stay here he needs to take a pay cut in accordance with his game time.

 

Love him as a player but our ability to evolve is hindered by his inability to string 10 games together without a lengthy lay off.

He's on 200k a week, only Mo and VVD earn more.

 

In fairness when he is fit he does normally put a good run of games together, but it's clearly only a matter of time before he breaks down again.

 

He could do with binning off International football and having a long winter break this year.

Yeah it's starting to look like he might be heading towards the end of his playing career. He wasn't fully fit at the end of last season and has pulled up in the first game of the new season.

 

Reading about his injury history and he's had a catalogue of injuries throughout his entire career. You feel like it will only get worse as he gets older.

He missed all of Spain's international shite in the summer due to injury...so got a decent break and still he breaks down.

The reason these type of players are available to us is because they come with caveats over fitness,temperament or whatever and we just have to accept it as a cost of doing business in the way we do. FSG do it this way and it wont ever change.
