Flop. Biggest disappointment to me (relative to expectations) since... Harry Kewell?

I mean, he passes the ball effectively enough. Slowly. Without creating much. He doesn't look like scoring or contributing to dead ball situations. He gets stuck in, but usually out of position and off the pace, resulting in fouls and cards.

It's unbelievably frustrating, because he's obviously talented. But I can't see it happening. Playing alongside a fit Henderson and Fabinho may save him yet. But I'd swap him for Alaba in a heartbeat...

Harsh. Imagine him slotting into our strongest 11. Our team is broken & he’s not the answer at the moment due to so many mitigating circumstances.

I just suggested how he might slot in. But he's one of our most experienced and highest paid players and, when the chips were (are!) down, he's offered next to nothing.

I'm not saying he's shit, because obviously he isn't. But I am saying he's been a massive disappointment.

15 games. 0 goals. 0 assists. 3 yellow cards. 1 penalty conceded? Another overturned on review (in situation that still led to crucial goal). At fault for crucial goal today. Etc.

A couple of assists would be nice. Maybe a goal. But, statistically, he's certainly in the red.

To be honest, I don't think there's much to discuss. He's been fine individually. Collectively, it seems there could be a problem with him in the team. That's up to the manager who wanted him to figure out. I don't think it will be a long term concern.

Agreed.

It's frustrating because I believe he was bought because of the teams sitting 11 back to offer us more creativity when we're dominating possession. The problem that I see is without Hendo and especially Fabinho playing next to him his lack of pace defensively is exposed and our CB situation compounds that because the slightest mistakes are being punished. At the other end the ball just isn't sticking and all of our forwards prefer the ball into feet in those situations instead of running in behind. Possibly because other than Thiago the others in midfield aren't the kind to hit those balls into space. We've also been incredibly unlucky at times/suffered from more decision making from the striker.

Since when do we judge our midfielders on goals and assists? We don't.

He's been shite pure and simple. Plays like he should be playing on the legends circuit already. I said he didn't look all that before he came despite everyone getting overly excited.

He was meant to be an upgrade on our midfielders and offer something different as all our current ones were a bit too similar. So far he's been a massive downgrade to say the least.

He had two assists all last season. Would help with your expectations if you knew the type of player he was.

Yes, and 3 goals.

But are you alone and in need of human contact (at least in the form of online conflict) again?

I'm afraid I can't oblige tonight.

No. I was just confused at the fact you brought up goal and assist stats for a centre mid. A centre mid in our team with the conservative midfield, no less.

OK. So 5 in total last season. 0 in total this.

We signed him to be a central midfielder, not a #10, mate. Think Luka Modric, not Mesut Ozil. He's doing well in relevant centre mid stats. Highest amount of tackles and interceptions per game in our midfield, highest amount of key passes. Pressing has been really good. All good stuff. He's fouling too much and can improve on positional discipline so he doesn't get bypassed as much, but it's been decent. It has. Could be better, but it's decent.

Is this still a discussion? Fucking hell. I don't even know where to start on that tonight. In fact I can't be bothered to end up arguing with the fan boys who think he's a footballer.

Here how it is. We have mostly been a pretty good team since I was born until he turned up. I'm 50. He's without doubt been the "playmaker" in the shitest football I have ever seen from Liverpool.  So if you want to blame injuries, blame them. But all those big injuries existed before he turned up.

He might be boss at football somewhere. I've said it before, I'll say it again, he looks to me like a tropical fish. If life isn't perfect for him, he'd sooner die. Bomb the cunt. Play any fucking random we have because he offers absolutely zero. Then this time next year, if he's good and our fish tank is at a comfortable 23C or whatever, give him a game. Otherwise fuck him right off.

"Tropical fish". "If life isn't perfect for him, he'd sooner die". He had the most tackles from a Liverpool player today.

You're patently absurd sometimes.

That wasn’t even a foul and Firmino being a twat in midfield was the start of the situation.

He's been poor but so have most players recently. Let's see what he's like in a functioning team before we write him off (hopefully this season is an anomaly and we'll be back next year). Maybe he just is a bad fit for us and won't work out, but let's give him more than a few months to prove otherwise.  He looked a class act in Bayern's champions league games last season.

Salah aside they've all been shite I see no reason for him to be singled out at least he has the excuse of starting in a side that looks lost and doesn't seem to be getting managed.

Someone like firminho the evidence has been there for an absurdly long time he's a 5 a side player now. If he's our number 9 next year we're fucked then too.
