Don't blame Everton fans to all be on the moon for now, until reality dawns and come crashing down, which won't be too far away. But give the devil its due and recognize what a shrewd manager they got in Ancelotti, those lucky bastards. Rodriguez on a free is a no brainer of course and that Brazillian fellow Allan has greatly improved their midfield. I think they can expect to finish anywhere between sixth and ninth if they continue to work their asses off helped with their new signings.

Yes, if thew continue to work hard they may indeed reach the lofty heights of mediocrity.

I dont see why they couldn't get top 4. United, arsenal, Chelsea all capable of slipping up a lot and Everton have a better manager than all of them.

Ole, Arteta and Lampard is like Saved By The Bell: The College Years. A massive disappointment.

No doubt after 2 games many of them will inevitably begin to piece together a combined 11..maybe its happened already..scrambling for that magical 6/11 number, so Digne, Allen, James R, Doucoure, Richarlison and Calvert Lewin..with the added insult of Pickfords distribution courting favour over Allison for many...those wise old football heads!!

But having qualified for CL, surely they would decline to take part? Given that it’s a lesser prize than the League Cup?

They aren’t getting top 4. They’ve had a decent start but so have Palace and nobody will be expecting them to get CL.

Even with the admittedly decent midfield, that defence and keeper is going to let them down and it would be generous to say that is overall the seventh best squad in the league.

They’ve a problem on their hands with Rodriguez as well. If he flops it’s cost them a fortune, if he does well and gets attention off top clubs again he’ll want to be off but they won’t get much for him as he’s only signed a 2 year deal. (I think that’s what I read about the length of deal) There are worse problems obviously but it’s still there in the background.

Still though, can’t blame their fans for being chuffed, I might want them to fail spectacularly but the club are showing some ambition.

Very relevant that, I agree. And I think we have a great player here, guess most people will agree upon that. My point was probably that a few people seem to be a bit biased, and are taking the praise of one single 45 minute performance a bit far.

Are you using code to say that Lazar Markovic should still be here?
