Actors that were good in one role but shit in everything else?

Robert De Niro essentially plays Robert De Niro pretending to be someone else. He's had some of the coolest roles and performed them perfectly. He's an Icon but I don't he's particularly great at acting.

Can't believe what I'm reading here.

He did become a bit of a parody of himself going into the 90s but the first 15 years or so of his career contained some of the greatest acting committed to tape.

I'm not arguing he hasn't had great performances of course he has, I personally don't think he can transform himself like other actors can. Menacing psycho he's the best in the business. Everything else he's just okay. It could be a case of some actors becoming so iconic due to roles they've played it's hard to see past it.

Basketball Diaries. The Revenant. The Departed. Wolf of Wall St. Django Unchained.

I enjoyed all these films. Wouldn’t say he was awful in any of them.

I think he was just trolling.

Platoon, Betrayed, Major League, Hatfield and McCoys.......

Leono did Capro has been brilliant in many films, especially as he started out as a kid actor in a film I think with Robert de nitro? How many kid actors go on to become good actors in their own rights?

Yeah, I honestly think so.

Looked up his filmography - I've seen Training Day and Inception, both only once, don't remember him in either.

He's only in one scene in Training Day to be fair.

In addition to Platoon I assume.

The Big Chill?

Dogs of War with Walken?

That might be why, but it's ages since I saw it anyway. The point is basically this: I'm not saying he's shit in everything else he's been in because I honestly don’t know but it seems to me, possibly ignorantly, that Platoon is by an absolute mile his career highlight.
