Man United and Chelsea have joined Liverpool in registering an interest for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

It was reported last week that Liverpool were looking to scale back any major transfer activity in the upcoming window due to the financial impact of Covid-19 pandemic which has hit extremely hard across the Footballing landscape.

Werner who is one of the most exciting talents in Europe has a £52million release clause in his contract and for all intents and purposes there was a great deal of mutual interest by both parties and a deal looked to be close to a done thing.

Liverpool have reportedly asked Werner's representatives more time when it comes to submitting an official offer to RB Leipzig.

But this delay in securing the move has given other teams hope with The Mirror (via German publication Bild) saying that both United and Chelsea have contacted Werner’s agent.

While the striker waits for a firm indication of what Liverpool plans are, in the meantime he has given another hint that his future lies away from the Bundesliga, confirming he has no interest in joining Bayern Munich.

“Bavaria (Bayern) is a great club, we don't need to talk about it.

“And Hansi Flick has proven this season that he's a really good head coach.

“But if a change should ever become an issue, I would rather take a step abroad than switch to Bavaria.

“It's just that the challenge in another league would appeal to me a little more than a change within the Bundesliga.

"And of course it also plays a role that the mutual appreciation should be there to the maximum. That's why I chose RB Leipzig at the time, and because of that, I would choose the club again in my next step, which would give me that feeling."

So while we will have to wait on that front the Mirror reports that the current Champions League holders are very keen on 17 year old starlet Aster Vranckx from Belgian club KV Mechelen.

The report continues to say that a number of Europe’s biggest clubs are circling the versatile and athletic midfielder including Man City and Bayern Munich.

Liverpool and City have had scouts watching him on a number of occasions including his Man of the match performance against Anderlecht in February.

Vranchx is reportedly available for as little as £1.5 million in the summer and with the Belgian league in limbo because of Covid-19, clubs like Mechelen will certainly need to sell their key assets.

Leipzig are “hammering home” to Werner a message first sent out by boss Ralf Rangnick last season about Keita, who left Leipzig for £53million in 2018.

Rangnick told Sky Germany: “Keita was an outstanding player here, but he’s still struggling in Liverpool.

“So far, he’s not the player there that he was here. The surroundings must be right for Timo. That’s the case here.”
