I’m just watching the PMQs. All I can say is… wow, she’s bad. She might be the worst ever. She’s literally teeing him up for home runs.

The irony of a Tory saying “he doesn’t answer questions” wasn’t lost on me.

"The country needs conviction politicians not politicians with convictions," she said.

Hitting back, Sir Keir said two of Badenoch's predecessors had "convictions", a reference to Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak, who both received fixed penalty notices for breaking Covid rules.

Later, responding to Badenoch's questions, a Labour source said: “If the Conservatives want to have a row about the extent of their criminality in office, that's fine by us.

“The fact is that her two predecessors were found guilty of breaking the law, partying in Downing Street while telling everyone else to follow the rules, something which the leader of the opposition described just a few weeks ago as ‘overblown’. Maybe she'll want to retract that statement.”

there was a piece in the guardian yesterday about how labour are behind the curve of even the likes of reform when it comes to social media. There was an excruciating clip of milliband on hignfu.

They could do with getting a few young whizz kids in though its much easier to get 3 word slogans across on the likes of twitter.

If you go on TikTok as an example you literally get nothing from Labour yet there are countless videos put out there by Reform and their bots. It really is embarrassing how far behind the curve the party is.

And that sums up the absolute state of a large portion of our country. Get rid of anyone who would vote Tory after the last 14 years of hell and anyone who would even consider voting reform and imagine how much better this life would be

So, are first steps, milestones, missions and pillars different from pledges?

Or can Starmer just scrap these too?

It’s all very dull, outside management consultant with a PowerPoint presentation stuff.

I kind of pity him in a sense as the world is changing around him. It's like putting inspector morse in saving private ryan.

If it was a game of Cluedo I'd go for the Nazi's, in Poland, with the Wehrmacht. Sorry, been to the pub, I'll read it in the morning and see if it still makes sense.

This was a bad election to win.

Everything is fucked and the political climate is the worst it has ever been with people totally fed up of the way things are and have been. And the media/social media etc more toxic than ever.

The government haven't got a prayer of being seen as doing enough in 5 years.

It will damage Lab massively as the narrative will be 'Lab had a chance and promised change and nothing really got better' - it will be Lab who suffer and who are blamed mostly despite being in power for barely 5 mins compared to the tories.

We are sadly heading on a course similar to America where a Trump like figure will rise and pick at the carcass and people disillusioned with the 'norm' will gravitate towards that figure in their droves. That figure will unite the right. It will probably be an even bigger disaster, but it will IMO happen - we are standing on the verge of that sort of change, we've seen it over there and we'll see it here.

Starmer is swimming against a tide that is too strong, the problems are too deeply rotted in and people are ripe for the picking by a Trump like figure.

He's a deeply uninspiring figure, with seemingly very few political convictions. I'd suggest it was the only election he was ever going to win.

Everything is fucked and therefore making a few small but noticeable improvements shouldn't be too difficult. You'd have to want to though, which I think may be a stumbling block here.

this is the type of shite they are up against from the "impartial" media such as the BBC. Pledges in quotation marks.

a website couldn’t keep up with the lies Johnson told yet they were his biggest cheerleader.

Johnsons was an absolute disaster from day 1 and inflicted brexit on us.

Truss last 45 days and Sunak’s biggest achievement was removing vat on champagne.

Going back further, under thatcher she left the north to die and half the country was engulfed in riots.

yet we now have this narrative that this is the "worst government ever"

absolute bollocks of course but swallowed up by a nation of thick bootlicking cunts

PM's 'pledges'

There is a story on the bbc website  where unions are asking the government to raise ssp.

the comments are filled with stuff like this

Too many expect others to cover their cost of living when it's an individual's responsibility. Yes give help to those in real need, otherwise take responsibility.

Spot on. We appear to be in an era of entitlement. Get your own house in order and stop relying on the hard work of others, the world owes you nothing unless you are genuinely unable to help yourself.

said it a million times.

There isnt  another people on the planet, apart from the english, who think working people having better conditions is a bad thing.

For their flaws, Biden and Starmer represented stability after eras of pure, unadulterated corruption of chaos. Once they're in, they're subjected to guerrilla warfare by media, social media, grifters and thick bastards. The results will be the same. His government will end in five years uncelebrated and unsung regardless of what it does achieve and give way to some mad new dystopia.

People want it - or at least they're told they should, and that's good enough for them.

I just wish I could go somewhere and watch it unfold from the outside with grim satisfaction, but sadly I can't - I'll have to live and die with the consequences,

think ive said it before.

Im 53 and the only time of relative prosperity ive ever known was that 97-08 period.

Growing up under thatcher was grim,we then had austerity and the car crash of the last few years.

yet 6 months in and the bootlickers are already missing some eton educated millionaire tory thick cunt rinsing the country.

I absolutely despise this country.

Seeing criticism of a government who actually want to deal with fundamental issues makes me want the country to just take a nosedive. I’m tempted to vote Reform to hasten the collapse of society. Let’s just give the people what they want. I could do with a lawless purge, driving around the country like Mad Max (I assume, I’ve never seen it), killing everything that moves and squealing like the Predator (I assume, I’ve never seen it) as I throw spears around while hanging off the side of a truck.

To think that I, like the piece of shit that I am, actually wanted a government that sets a goal, gives numbers, tracks progress, then gets judged on their ability to meet those goals. What I should really be doing, if I were a good guy, is tweeting into the void and linking tweets, over and over, to people who already agree.

Rep for my "making references to films we haven't actually seen" brother.
