One in five households in Great Britain, headed by an over-65, has a total wealth of over a million pounds.

I saw a list of pensioner based 'facts' aimed at refuting this 'Starmer wants to kill pensioners with the cold' stuff, but I couldn't be bothered to fact check them so I didn't post them. It was something like:

- Energy Cap is £200 less than last winter

- Pensions have risen £900

- Likely to rise another £460 next year

- 70% of pensioners have at least one additional source of income above the state pension

- 27% of pensioners are from millionaire households

- Over 50s hold 78% of the UK's property wealth

- 800k who may be eligible for PC are being urged to apply, 40k already have and will be £4000 better off.

- UC for a 24 year old is £311pm.

the wfa is a classic example of just how thick fucking cunts in this country are manipulated by the media.

the right wing media largely ignored this, yet the last few weeks have seen never ending headlines about starmer letting pensioners freeze to death

The problem with centrist politics in bad times is that it's buffered on both sides by people that want to see it collapse.

That's what happened to the Weimar republic. When times weren't bad it plodded on, when times were bad it was just a bunch of blokes in handlebar moustaches and tweed suits trying to figure shit out, while the street were filled with communists and nazis twatting each other with big sticks.

Novara media on one side, GB News on the other, both with the same message  - centrism is shit, yet neither with any real interest in building anything, just tearing it down.

it was announced yesterday that labour was reopneing breakfast clubs for schools and twitter was full of thick bootlicking cunts saying parents should feed their own kids.

I do think they are doing some good stuff (public sector pay rises, repealing the anti trade union legislation, actually resolving the strikes) however they are up against an incredibly hostile media.

If he didn't though he'd be called sir kiddie starver or some such.

Starmer will quickly become the most hated man in modern British political history I reckon, because he has no tribe to defend him and he'll be positioned by the right and left as "the establishment" similar to how the EU was.

I'm not sure this is particularly fair because it supposes that what we are seeing is centrist economics, and that Novara and GB are equals on their own particular wing. Neither thing is true.

Novara, for their many, many faults, attack Labour for not even really putting forward centrist economics on any objective scale/measure, it simply wouldn't wash as centrism in other European nations.

GB do so because they aren't drowning enough immigrants.

- Energy Cap is £200 less than last winter - how does it compare to the winter prior to Russia's invasion of Ukraine?

- Pensions have risen £900 - to cover inflation on things like food and other such luxuries

- Likely to rise another £460 next year - to cover inflation on things like food and other such luxuries

- 70% of pensioners have at least one additional source of income above the state pension - and 3,300,000 don't

- 27% of pensioners are from millionaire households - and 8,030,000 pensioners aren't

- Over 50s hold 78% of the UK's property wealth - maybe because they have paid off their mortgages?

- 800k who may be eligible for PC are being urged to apply, 40k already have and will be £4000 better off. - and 760,000 haven't

Trying to renew but refuse to use Paypal and do not want to register. I've sent Dave U a message asking if there is a way I can renew online by other means but no reply yet. If anyone knows him or sees him please give him a nudge. Thanks.

Beating what drum? The one that adds context to ignorant criticism. No. I never will. Ever. No matter how much you dislike it. I could respond to your cockeyed bolded responses, but there’s little point; you’ve not demonstrated that reality is important to you, or that you have the ability to accept it when it conflicts with your world view. I’ve no intention on wasting my time with another Gnasher.

As for your link, what does that have to do with me? Can you at least articulate why you’ve shared it.

Ending homelessness for for all veterans. I wonder how that's going to be twisted.

young care leavers and victims of domestic abuse get priority  housing

Both laudible aims. I've long said we treat our vetrans disgracefully and argued for better systems of care to be put in place. But how will this be delivered? Its one thing to apply for a social housing place but another to get one as there is already a massive, and I mean massive, shortfall in existing social housing. What tools and funding will he give local authorities to deliver on that shortfall?

Sorry if that's 'twisting'it, but reality intervenes. And before you start in on me, I also have a pretty good track record of pointing out that we need to build a shitload of social housing that can be rented out on affordable rents in posts on this forum.

Let's see if this can be delivered, because to be quite frank, I have my doubts.
