Fuck Labour. I am absolutely ashamed by this and wish i hadn't voted for this prick. Taking off pensioners while giving train drivers a pay rise when they are on good money anyway. Then you have them releasing real criminals early so they can fill them up with people who say offensive words online.

They are, totally off their fucking heads. Cant wait to see what bullshit they come up with at the budget and their so called pay per mile road tax thats been rumoured.

10 weeks in and they are fucking horrendous.

I think you may have misunderstood both of your arguments.

I'd have been quite happy to see anyone involved in those riots shot, and I genuinely mean that.

All the Labour supporters defending Starmer and Reeves would quite rightly have castigated the Tory's if they had done this with the WFA are just showing their bias, or are actually closet Tory's.

Although I haven’t defended it, I have never had an issue with adjusting WFA to be means tested. Wealthier pensioners have never needed it, and it could have been spent on supporting the pensioners that really do need more help. I feel the same about child benefit.  I can’t see any legitimate argument for state support for the better off while the worse off are really struggling. That really would feel a bit Tory to me.

How about all those fuckers forego their parliamentary attendance allowance to make up the shortfall. All a bunch of cunts and there is more to come from the current incumbents.

You’re talking about the Lords Attendance Allowance, that you’ve seen people bleating about on SM over the last couple of days. In what way is being paid for turning up to do a job for 700-odd people (average age of 70, BTW, so pensioners) relevant to the WFA being removed for some pensioners?

You know that over 1 in 4 pensioners have a household wealth of over a million, right? That over a quarter of a billion has been paid to pensioners living outside the country. So you can get your knickers in a twist if you want, but I think at some point I’d like to hear the argument for Labour continuing state support (often funded by the taxes from the likes of nurses, teachers, builders, and bus drivers) to keep millionaires sunning it in Spain safe from the cold.

Look, I think it has been a PR disaster and I think they need to be careful with the threshold to ensure nobody is at risk from the cold, but this yarn being spun that Labour are somehow freezing the old to death and starving the kids is utterly pathetic, social media driven bollocks.

Train drivers see this is the level of ignorance I can’t stand. The right will have you believe it’s well paid train drivers asking for more money when it’s not. The amount of money it costs to travel by trains that don’t fucking run on time anyway should more than cover it but no the 1% of rich shareholders don’t want to share any of their spoils to people working ridiculous hours for pittance.

the problem isnt labour

its the fact that we live in a country full of thick bootlicking peasants who have no problem with tory millionaires swerving millions in tax but object to the people who keep the country running get a modest pay rise for the 1st time in years, and who think boris johnson was capable of running a country.

this labour government are certainly not perfect, but the fact that they have taken on a minster for employment rights, something the tories never even considered, tells you everything you need to know about them.

The biggest mistake with the WFA was not having it means-tested when it was first introduced. There was, and still is, no good reason why pensioners who can afford it, should be getting a payment that was designed to help pensioners that really struggled to heat their homes in the Winter. Whatever the reasoning at the time, probably either the admin headaches and cost relating to means-testing, or a desire to keep pensioner voters onside, we're in a position now where people who don't really need the WFA are aggrieved at having it taken away from them. I feel for those who fall just outside of the criteria, and would prefer a sliding scale approach, and hopefully someone will find a way that is feasible and doesn't cost more than it saves.

As for this bollocks about giving that WFA money to well-paid train drivers - any working person should be ashamed at parroting that divisive right wing rhetoric.

There are two major things wrong with this post.  Obviously, the content is drivel, but have a look at THE GRAMMAR!  What has happened to this country?

The problem with benefits is that once you give them out you can't take them back, even if it's to people who don't need it.

Ironically it's only because some of the people getting money from this are relatively wealthy, switched on and have a voice that this has become such a cause celebre. If they'd said they were taking a tenner off people who're on the dole same said cunts wouldn't give a fuck.

One of the main problems Labour have is,unlike the tories, they don't have the media in their pockets.

Whatever they do will be ripped to shreds

The difference the way the bbc has treated starmer, compared to how they fawned over that fat wife beating lying cunt johnson for example, is a disgrace

I wonder why George Eaton didn’t mention the part in the document where it says why those groups lose the WFP, leading to a lot of responses asking why Labour - the new nasty party, apparently - are targeting disabled pensioners.

The estimate they give, after explaining it doesn’t have published figures for disabled pensioners, so is using figures for those claiming the likes of PIP (up to around 700 per month, claimed by more than half of all pensioners) is because they’re less likely to be on lower incomes. They’re also disproportionately less likely to lose their WFP.

At least he linked it, so people could read it themselves. Knowing that most wouldn’t and would fly off the handle. It’s here if people want to also not read it.

I think the west's current economic model is on its way out. 14 years into austerity with more to come and it's endless, people and councils are still broke.

The yanks have pumped TRILLIONS into their economy and the man in the street is still broke.

Reeves is a financial traditionalist through and through, I note she's rolled back banking controls already and is obsessed with "growth", but it simply doesn't work.

How the fuck can the man in the street have spare cash when a medium sized bottle of olive oil is over 7 quid in Tesco. The cost of things now is beyond a joke it’s proper piss taking it’s as if the bosses of all these stores got together a said i know let’s have a laugh with the prices. Everything and I mean everything is a rip off. Daylight robbery for the fat cats and the governments let it happen. I couldn’t give a fuck about trident, we all want to eat

I've honestly thought for years that there's an algorithm somewhere designed to keep everyone on the cusp of homelessness in order to motivate them. The more you earn the more things cost, like a hamster wheel.

Isn't it funny that after lockdown people had money in the bank (you couldn't get a tradesmen for love nor money because everyone was having extensions built) or people were quitting their jobs to follow their dreams, then - as chance would have it - economic shocks came our way to wipe out all our savings.

The traditional "middle class" were defined by their ability to defer gratification, to put off things like holidays and flash cars so they could save for houses or invest in businesses, but to do that you have to have enough coming in in the first place, now people don't so they don't defer gratification  - and that's what our modern service economy wants and needs.

I looked into this a while back as I was pissed off with the constant price rises and a lot of it is down to consecutive bad harvests, not just inflation.

It is nuts how everything seems to have zoomed up in the last few years...ironically at a time when many people are struggling so badly.
