James Timpson as Prisons Minister is a fantastic move.

That's a massive change from the perennial - and obviously failed - approach of giving that sort of job to some careerist who wants to climb the ladder by trying to convince tabloid headline writers that they're "tough".

The French will come through and the Centerist/Left working coalition will win, but French politics is about to get a rocket up the arse especially if Melenchon is anywhere near the top table with leverage.

Lovely stuff.

Hopefully.

Oh well. It was good while it latest. Here comes Labours answer to Tory tractor porn.

Ian Dales bessie mate. She was useless the first time. Worth noting Steve Smith and his paper the Financial Times came out for Labour before the vote on Thursday so the astonishment in his post  is not borne out of political malice. She shouldn't be anywhere near top office. Especially as some supporters ofLabour have pushed the anti corruption, whiter than white rhetoric.

This man has a bad vibe towards ethnic and black people. He could end up causing himself and this country problems.

Edit. It has not gone down well at all.

Dalrymple makes a valid point here. Starmer rightly condems the horrific Russian attack on a hospital in Ukraine yesterday but where is the consistency? Thats what many in the black/ethnic/muslim communities ask. You may dismiss it as 'spam' or 'stuff on twitter' because you don't know the disgruntled people personally but they are there and they are around us. They don't all scream loudly with hooks for hands. They are professionals working in our finance sectors, our doctor's surgeries, our schools, our hospitals. As well as being the ordinary Joe passing you everyday on the street.  I gave the example of two heart specialists yesterday, another poster gave the example of a taxi driver last week. They have genuine concerns.

Darlymple is not a mad mullah crazed tub thumper. He's an intelligent historian and writer who refuses to shy away frrom the hypocrisy of the politicans who rule over us. He speaks for many here.

Muslim Labour member below. Unortunately i'd bet millions in this country share his words.

Reports such as the one in the Lancet yesterday do not pass unnoticed.  Starmer promised to govern for not only those who voted for him but also for those who didn't. It"s early days but that interview he did in Wales yesterday does not bode well for the coming months and years. If our politicans continue to give the impression brown skinned children are of less concern than white skinned children resentment and social incoherence are sure to follow. The warning signs are already there.

That vid of Starmer getting sandbagged in the changing rooms is horrendous, if it was me I'd have got the SAS to shove their vintage Nuptse jackets right up their holes. Reminds me of when the blueshite were running roadblocks for the players.

There was one on a train from a few months ago. What is it exactly they want Starmer to do while he's eating his lunch on a train to Chesterfield? Yeah, sure, sit down, mate. I've got nothing to do, let's have a two hour chat about the West Bank.

I've had frank and brief discussions with Mark Drakeford in public places many times. He gave back as good as he got.  Maybe I should have bowed down to his feet.
