No offence towards you, mate, but I hate this sort of nihilst shit

How do you think we're ever going to change our voting system and media ownership rules if people who oppose them stop voting?

They're not going to magically evaporate in a cloud of fucking fairy dust

They need to be fought against and peoples votes are the strongest weapons

Not at all mate, but when you see an actual alternative crucified in the press for the last 3-4 years, only to be replaced by someone who clearly isn't going to rock the boat, what makes you think anything will change? They've got exactly what they wanted - an opposition that is no opposition at all. Do you think if this Labour party is elected to government, they'll introduce PR? Or democracise our media? I'd love it if that were the case, but I cant see it, can you? I'm glad you've got more energy for this shit than I have, but after the introduction of tuition fees in 1997, the writing was on the wall for me. Politics in this country is a stitch up and I cant be arsed with it any more.

The last election knocked quite a lot of stuffing out of me, have to say

I hope & believe that the next Lab Govt will introduce PR and do something about our media...at a minimum owners of Papers/Media outlets have to be resident in the UK and paying taxes and restart/ implement Leveson 2.

Re PR think it's inevitable as FPTP helps, primarily, the Tories so in Labours best interest to get rid. It would encourage minor parties and add diversity which will be double edged as cunts like Farage will get seats

Most of all a shit Lab Govt is better than the best Tory Govt and I think Starmer can do good things

Can understand the political passions in this thread and not looking for people to compromise their positions however  in bold is the bottom line. Starmer  is no John Smith And he is going to have a hard job positioning the party in order to get elected compromises need to be made on all sides and focus on the end goal which is ending Tory government .

I genuinely find it astonishing how labour continuously shoot themselves in the foot. I don't get this perspective where the single one thing we all need are these cunts out. So even if you think you have internal enemies, put into one side and because they're not as big as the enemy outside. It seems never ending to me that labour seem to want nothing but a Tory government.

We can go round and round about this forever yet the fact is that the previous Labour administration has given Johnson an 80 seat headstart. That'll take 2 terms to overturn, several more if it was someone anointed by team Corbyn. So to close a gap to around 6 points (taking into account the margin of error) after being 25ish behind is a pretty good performance, especially when we're in unprecedented times and there's very little scope to politic.

A handful of people, in the scheme of things, are making a lot of noise and sound like the jilted lover. It's pretty embarrassing.

At first I wasnt  sure if your last paragraph was meant as satire. Unfortunately looking at your posts I realise it wasnt and you're a full blown tory prick in drag.

Dont beat yourself up though kiddo, take solice that on here you're amongst friends, and revel in the fact that I ain't one of them.

I don’t, they are a fucking joke of a party. 46 years since a Labour leader not called Tony Blair won an election..... 46 years.....Now THAT I find astonishing.

I know mate. Soul destroying isn't it. I just think everyone needs a good slap. We just have to find anyway to out these cunts and everyone needs to find a way to compromise to get there.

Oh apologies mate don’t get me wrong, I don’t vote Labour, I don’t vote anybody, what staggpers me is that a mainstream party is so out of touch with what the electorate wants or at least votes for, personally I couldn’t give a fuck who wins, all the same to me. I don’t like the Conservative party though, I will admit that

I’m 55 , only  ever voted Labour, last time was in the GE of 2010. I wouldn’t describe myself as a Blairite but for sure they were the best years I’ve ever known, he is a cunt for sure but I believe in his policies by and large ( minus the war bits like) I don’t trust politicians at all, never have, In fact they disgust me and I don’t see myself ever voting again unless something different comes along.

So I kind of understand that, but we're stuck with politicians regardless of if we vote or not. Do you not think it's worth voting for the best of a bad bunch?

Not really mate, I think they’re all shite and I wouldn’t trust any of them with today’s date. I’ll make my own way in life the best I can .

Unlikely, I think the older you get the more insular and cynical you become, I know I have. If either party ( and let’s be honest there’s only two) espoused policies that would dramatically improve my children’s lot then I would probably vote for them.

Then, rather than trying to make out as if I’m some right wing, Blair supporting nut job, which convinces absolutely nobody, why not actually just state what you’re confused about and we can discuss it like grown ups.

He sacked Long-Bailey for not apologising.  Fair enough. Stupid shit from her. He - an undoubtedly superior legal expert - decided the best tactical method of dealing with that part of the antisemitism crisis that he inherited is to settle and move on rather than drag it out for potentially years. There’s a valid point that this doesn’t support Corbyn. Well, true, but his job is to make Labour electable, not to make Corbyn look good. Are those paid out to a bunch of shitheads? They may well be. Does it stick in the throat? For Corbyn supporters, undoubtedly. Is it the wrong long term move? Probably not.

It’s really not that perplexing.

Again, my main worry is the report advice. If it says to remove the whip, I can’t see him not doing it. It might even be the right thing to do, depending on the report, from a moral perspective. It’s almost certainly going to be the move that separates Labour from that crisis, but I think some of the Corbyn supporting MPs might leave and try to ‘pull an Umunna’. That will be the death of old fashioned left wing political representation in parliament though. Hopefully if the report says that, Corbyn has the good sense to do it himself.

The thing about PR, while it would mean never having a Tory government ever again, it would also mean never having a Labour government either. Are Labour willing to finally give up their cosy little duopoly? I have grave doubts.

I think Labour have been in power 36 years out of the last 100... it's not a great record.

So from that perspective we should go for it but mainly because it's fairer and everybody's vote counts depending on what system you go for

Pretty sure Starmer supports PR

Where the fuck is the shadow education secretary? or who the fuck is the shadow education secretary? These kids from poor backgrounds need a voice and I cant hear it, maybe Starmer should apologise to Rebecca Long Bailey and get her back in the cabinet asap, at least she goes in all guns blazing, the response to this fucking fiasco has been pathetic by the opposition education secretary.

I agree with you on pr but was not it the lib dems enjoyment of the roses in the number 10 garden the reason PR didnt happen and an eu referendum did. It was the lib dems leader who enjoyed a "cosy little duopoly" at the expense of promise and principle.

You just have to read the news outside of the Socialist Worker to see Starmer, Rayner and the shadow education secretary have said that the government needs to stop this and use the predicted grades. It's quite easy to Google search this.
