Christ, Luke the Nuke didn't actually get voted on, did he?

EDIT - fucking hell, he did. *shakes head*

Just had a look at that Luke Akehurst’s Twitter feed. He’s tweeting about vote shares in those elections swinging from Momentum to Labour to Win and retweeting tweets from “Starmer supporting sources” about how this is a win for moderates.

Nauseating.

Luke fucking Akehurst. I think I’m done.

That’s isn’t me having a go, but what do you actually want?

The elections seem pretty split, probably favouring Corbyn supporters marginally, especially with Pinock doing so well, so what’s the issue, that you haven’t got exactly what you wanted?

Again, I’m not looking to poke a hornets nest but this seems like remonstrations after the fact.

Momentum are claiming victory/Labour to win are claiming victory, to me that sounds like both are happy with their showing.

Isn't this signs of representation of different voices and ideas, and if you’re not happy with that why?

Also, again, without malice, did you vote?

I don't want anything, I was just expressing surprise/disappointment that a candidate with views as unpleasant as Akehurst's got that many votes. It's a bit weird that you have a problem with that, tbh.

I don’t want anything mate, i’m not even a Labour member any more. I just think that Akehurst is a horrible cunt, hence my comment.

Why do you assume I have a problem, they were genuine questions.

I'm not sure that a guy who has actively plotted against the leadership of his own party for four years should be lauded for it. Broad church my arse.

Genuinely didn't think we'd see "what's your problem with Luke Nukem being voted in?" takes, but here we are.

To be fair to Starmer, I am sure he would have preferred a lower-key, less provocative supporter on the NEC.

Yeah I reckon that's spot on. Most people would be embarrassed by the guy; he's a straight up weirdo.

Why didn’t Starmer just unite everyone and stop this. Press conference, say ‘from this moment forward we are united’ and then it’s done. Probably ‘cause he secretly wasn’t a purge.

Seriously though, it was voted for and the results seems mixed. I dunno, can’t everyone just grow the fuck up and move the fuck on with attacking the Tories?

It’s lucky the Tories exist, because Labour are a bunch of twats really.

Again you reach for reasons to back up your own opinion.

I think the guys a massive dickhead.

Thousands of others didn't though, for whatever reason, so he's part of the future discussions and this is a reality.

Full disclosure I voted for Pidcock.

ive no idea what you are going on about, people are commenting on the suitability of a nasty piece of work who is the exact opposite of what you are proposing above, and Starmer has been specifically precluded from the comments.

Never go full 'Luke'

I mean it doesn't seem too difficult to understand why people would be disappointed that someone who holds the view "Iraq was pretty fucking great, actually" was voted on to the NEC.

Well, yes. You went on to illustrate that quite well. It was almost like I wasn’t talking to you but continuing a personal joke with the person I replied to.

Akehurat seems like a cunt to me, and I certainly didn’t claim he was an example of what I was describing. In fact, I called Labour a bunch of twats. The ‘we won, no we won’ narrative perfectly illustrates how bent out of shape some people are. Still, it was a vote with many, many thousands of votes. Elections tend to throw up ‘the other guy’ sometimes. It’s part of it.

Again, you'll find no argument that he's a bellend, but he has just been elected representative so he is part of the dialogue, if we like it or not.

So, what are WE going to do to take away his influence?

I can't imagine who voted for him, nor can I fully get behind some of the Momentum bullshit either, so here we are.

We now know what we're working with and that's where we are.

I'd imagine his vote tally is down to a combination of the Creasy and Kinnock endorsements, and a lot of members just not being aware he's an Iraq-stanning nutcase (at least I fucking hope so, anyway, because the alternative is beyond depressing).

The best way to take away his influence permanently is ensure members know what he is, so they don't vote for him. Other than that: voting on policy at conference, or getting active in your local CLP, I suppose.

Corbyn was the only opposition leader since its foundation not to be invited on to the bbc programme desert island discs which is ironic as the majority of bbc presenters/management/journalists would have loved to see Jeremy Corbyn  abandoned on a remote island.

‘He admits he said a lot of “daft” things as a young political radical, writing for a socialist magazine and failing to convince voters in east Surrey to back nationalisation. “I started by thinking I had all the answers. And as I’ve grown up, I’ve learned the power of saying, ‘I don’t know, let’s have a look at that’. And that’s been a very important lesson for me.”

That’s music to my ears. Pragmatism in leadership is very important. It’s interesting to have somebody leading in politics that actually has experience of leadership at a high level. I’m not sure when the last leader of either party had significant leadership experience prior to politics or taking the role as leader. Certainly not at such a high level. I wonder how far back you have to go to find somebody with significant business, military, or CS leadership who then lead either party. I know Paddy Ashdown had military leadership experience.

'Corbyn’s suspension and the EHRC report'. Haha. What a silly cunt. Some people's lives revolve around the ol' boy. The similarity between Corbynistas and Trump fanatics is quite something.

He needs some vid footage of a few keepy uppies and he'll walk the next GE.

He needs to wipe out a fat, little Japanese kid in a game of touch rugger, speak in pigeon Latin, shag around like leg', compromise his standing on a regular basis, stab colleagues in the back without remorse or recrimination, throw out some racist bon mots, fail completely to achieve anything of note in office and he'd be a shoe in for PM.
