Wasn't it the AV vote that was pushed forward last time? The Libs really wanted it because they knew they'd hoover up the second choice option because no tory would tick labour and back then no labour would tick tory second. This system we have now is a shit show, all of it. Lie like fuck in parliament is allowed calling a liar a liar is not. Totally fucking insane

To be fair iirc the libs didn’t want AV ‘a miserable little compromise’, they wanted PR.

But the tories wouldn’t let them have a vote on PR so they jumped into bed with them and propped them up anyway.

Yep, if only Labour had given us the referendum on PR they promised in their 1997 manifesto. We may have never had a Tory government since. Still, I suppose they only had a slim majority of 179.

As has been said many, many times before, Blair was a greedy cunt not going for PR because he saw the ability to win GE's without it. He fucked the public and all parties bar the tories by not going for PR.

Don't get me wrong, Starmer is about as inspirational as someone in a wheelchair who tries to stand up but falls over.

However, I do think he's judged the 'mood' in Britain pretty well. Yeah, the Owen Jones types don't like the flag shagging and the hang em and flog em stuff, but it's typical working class Blue labour stuff, the kind that cities like Liverpool was long known for. Economically left wing, socially conservative.

Get a time machine and go back to the docks in the 80s and ask them what they think of Kashmir and they'd probably tell you it's too expensive for a sensible Christmas present.

Surely he can't screw this up now? On the assumption he doesn't receive a fine but then again surely any half competent Labour leader could now take advantage?

Going into the next election with a divided Tory party where 75% of their backbenchers voted against Johnson if we exclude those on the government payroll. The Tories mercilessly went after Corbyn in the last GE time and again raising the fact that his own backbench MP's didn't support him.

A coalition of left leaning parties if elected must change the voting system.

This should be Lib Dem’s demand in any coalition agreement. No referendum, no half-measures, but change the fucking thing.

"Could we have a proportional representational voting system please?"

"Would you accept a 5p charge on plastic bags instead?"

"Yes. Yes we would"

Hitchens in The Hail with an absolutely unhinged article about Starmer being a revolutionary communist sleeper agent, great stuff.

When this starts you know he’s looking like a PM in waiting.

Aah is it operation smear to claw back points? We’ve seen this dance before. No comments allowed on the article either ….

Got to love being attacked by the commies as being a right winger and by the right wingers as being a commie.

The weirdest of them all is the right wing commies who went under the radar and 'Got Brexit done'.

We truly are in strange days, hombre.

There would actually be a chance here for Labour - not Starmer - to attack the Tories from the right on the economy. Fucking weird times indeed.

Exactly who I had in mind. They really need to attack them for being reckless with the credit card, etc. But do it so only the twats who will be influenced by such utter bollocks will hear it. Or something.

Lovely Lisa was all over the tellybox this morning, tearing into Gove's latest announcement that those on benifits will be able to own their own million pound gaffs if they just believe in Alex enough, and she just looks thoroughly over pointing out their shit.

Maybe a Reeves/Streeting dream team can hit the airwaves tomorow and tell them how they're going to reduce benefits, whilst allowing benefit claimants to buy million pound homes that they'll be able to welcome a hot, emotionally vulnerable piece of refugee tail into their new mansions whilst sinking dingies with state provided weapons as leisure pursuits?

May as well as if people believe any of this, previously announced and failed, nonsense they'll believe anything.
