If this is right then I can't see how left wingers can stand any chance of getting a candidate in a leadership contest now.

So what are McDonnell and the others in the Socialist Campaign Group going to do now? They have no chance of challenging Starmer if it passes and the party is being gutted of democracy. I suppose once again they'll "stay and fight" instead of leaving.

Attachment to political parties is a huge problem, if people would accept that it's ok to leave and start something new off maybe this country would actually have some fucking change at some point in the future instead of this crap.

Good luck "pressuring" Starmer with your left wing policy ideas.

Fucking stinks, this. If the unions and the Labour Party aren't democratic, what's the fucking point of them?

According to this the vote would have passed even with Unison abstaining :

And Aaron Bastani mentioned vote rigging several times as being the reason, but if you're a journo with his following it's probably a good idea to at least back that up with something instead of just saying that then moving on, and he hasn't said anything else on the subject so far.

Second time his name's cropped up in the last few pages and both times he seems to be chatting shite.

If you mean Bastani I'm not sure, I saw that Zarah Sultana had been talking about delegates being suspended for no reason so it's possible he meant that :

Or maybe he was meaning something else, either way when he's going on about rigging to over 90k people it'd be good if he explained what he meant.

It takes some level of skill & incompetence to be so ineffectual in opposition when we have the worst government in the history of the country.  I really do not know what game he's trying to play but as a lawyer he could have started with all the illegal & corrupt activities the government have done over the past 18 months.

Hey Keir there's a Covid money trail. How about following it and you could have half the government behind bars

Who cares. Labour are not winning power any time soon and nor should they, they’re a disgrace and are in no way fit to govern. The political landscape is now just about as bleak as it’s possible to be.

I'm not sure about them not winning power at this stage because I've no idea of the twattish things Starmer and his mates will try to get voters in an election and how much the public will fall for it. After seeing what they've done so far I can't write anything off, but completely agreed with the rest.

That's not true. She chose not to go, because she didn't fancy arguing her case with LGBT+ people.

She wouldn’t be able to argue her case though because the baying mob won’t allow her to say anything.

Also, if she feels threatened and fearful of her safety as a women, then she’s fully entitled to not go out of that fear. That’s a security issue. Not because she didn’t fancy arguing her case.

If Starmer had backed her then I would hazard a guess she would be going.
