Have to agree with SD here, it's not neoliberalism I don't think, it's some kind of weird state/private/cronyism like basically what you'd get in Russia or Uganda. Dunno what the political science tern is. Corruption maybe. But it's basically public money into a very select group of private pockets with access to that group closely controlled. Neoliberalism is about dismantling the state or pushing it to one side, this new model needs the state because it's a cash cow.

Kleptocracy.

Could be a blood bath over the next couple of days and I don't mean just on here. The knifes out for Starmer?

Labour imo needs to hold its nerve if the results are bad, a few right wing populist columnists like Dan Hodges are mentioning Philips so the below may not be as nutty as it sounds, most want the Labour party dead and she's just the gal,

It all has the feel that things will have to get a lot worse before they get better for anyone who wants the Conservatives gone.

As bad as Trump was for the first 3 years of his term he wouldn't have been defeated but for his catastrophic response to the pandemic. It took 400k preventable deaths to manage to eek out a victory against the most obviously corrupt and incompetent POTUS ever and he still remains the preferred choice of a sizeable portion of the electorate.

Maybe it will take the breaking up of the UK and multiple years of Brexitnomics to finally bring about a coherent opposition to the Tories.

Re scott ,

Or maybe try to find somebody with a personality who is not too old , left and baggage-ridden , but does not see socialism as a problem and the leadership as mainly a vehicle to take the party back to being a trough for centrist time servers.

I can't remember the last time I felt less enthusiastic about an election.  This is just a dull ache.

Sitting here wondering whether to vote today , and weighing up the 15 minute walk. I have never not voted Labour in any election I have been available for in 43 years .

I am leaning towards voting but never thought my participation would basically hinge on me promising my vote to a young lady who knocked last week ( I hate lying to people ) and the fact that I need to go to the Marks and Spencer garage shop anyway and its halfway to the voting hall.

The fact that I need to get out of the house is my main motivation.

I have a postal, I struggled to fill that in, but finally posted it on Tuesday.

Didn't even know there was a police commissioner vote today until I opened the envelope.

Once I saw there was no Commissioner Gordon I skipped that one.

Divisive. Worra cunt. He only wants to vote Labour because he read in the JC that Labour is full of anti-Semites.

Someone below that twitter photo posted "hmm he's wearing a lot of blue for a Labour supporter" not sure if the person was being sarcastic and they've all piled in saying don't be so stupid etc but he certainly is wearing an awful lot of blue and sky blue too. Wheres his fucking loyalty the Bolshi bastard?.

I’m only yanking your chain. Chill out, you uppity ballbag.

Ok. The economy set to soar, vaccination gone well, lockdown rules eased. Its all fallen right for the Tories, it won't last though. Labour need to hold their nerve and put an end to the silly infighting and purges, different landscape in two years time.
