I love the 80s but most of my favourite bands are from the 90s or late 80s/90s crossover.  

 

If I were to choose one it would have to be New Order, though, for a consistently superb output throughout that decade.   Runner-up:  Simple Minds.

Replace the E Street Band with The Jesus & Mary Chain and that will do for a start for me.

The Smiths and Pixies would certainly be two anyway. Those are two of my favourite bands of any decade.

The Cure. My first ever gig, I went and saw I then when I was 15. Incidentally, the last band I saw... closing the pyramid stage last year. Great band. Close To Me has got to be one of the best ‘pop’ songs ever written. Has a real end of summer feel to it.

Not really a Springsteen fan. I'd also have him down as starting in the 70s. That's always the problem with arbitrary cut off points like decades though and the only reason why I didn't mention The Fall and Dead Kennedys.
