What is your ‘go to’ band when you are drunk?

What is the one band or artist that you always end up coming back to when you are pissed?

For me, it’s Squeeze. Without fail I’ll wake up after I’ve had a bevy with my Mrs moaning I’ve been playing Up the junction or This summer or a variety of squeeze songs at the top when I go to put something on YouTube.

Only occasional deviations to this are Tears for fears and Hall and Oates.

I don't know what's up with me but I've grown bored of music. Music used to be everything. I think the absolute ease of access to it kind of made me less enthusiastic. As a kid getting a mix tape or waiting for a song to come on the radio so you could tape it and hammer it. Alexa is like the ultimate juke box for music though not good sound but if it's on its usually just radio X. I guess nothing has grabbed me for a long time.

If you buy CDs or records it will help, you're far more inclined to listen to an album or give it the time it deserves if you've invested in it and have something tangible than if you just need to click a button in my experience.

I've just started using Spotify & when I find something I really like the sound of, I'll order the CD. It's a handy tool but it's not a great way to listen to music. Plus it doesn't sound nearly as good or vinyl or a CD through a good stereo.

For me, there’s room for both digital and physical media. Re. music, Spotify, YouTube, etc. are sound, but you can’t beat actually holding a record or CD. Same goes for DVD boxsets and books. Then again, I’ve always enjoyed collecting these things.

Aye, of course there's room for both & I wouldn't criticise anyone for streaming music either, it's cheap, easy & not everyone has the inclination or money to buy loads of records or CDs.

Another thing to remember about it is that the artists get paid next to nothing, which is generally why concert tickets are extortionate & why an awful lot of musicians will be struggling this year.

I was the same a few years, then I discovered the 'go to song radio' button on Spotify. Try it: It'll send you down some right musical rabbit-holes.

What is this function and where do I find it?

Choose a song, right click on it (or touch the three dots next to the song if you're on your phone). It'll come up in the menu.

It'll generate a playlist based on the chosen song. Enjoy!
