TK def wont like that.

Au contraire.  This is simply Donald's way of saying that any mask is better than no mask.  I'm glad he's talking about masks and raising awareness.  The CDC and WHO will inevitably follow and change their guidance, it's coming.

You need some proper strong lungs to wear these for any length of time. Anyone with lung or heart problems shouldn't wear them as they'll cause more problems than they'd solve. They'll just not got sufficient oxygen. These folks just need to stay in.

This is not the case in my experience.  I find mine easy to breathe in unless I break into a jog, then it becomes difficult.  Normal walking pace is fine.

But...isn’t it like trying to catch a minnow with a shark net? The masks just don’t stop the virus as they are so small.

 Nobody is saying that they eliminate risk.  The main reasons to wear them are:-

1. To reduce the risk of infecting others via droplets. The masks are proven to catch droplets so your shark net analogy falls down there;

2.  It prevents you from touching the orifices of your face.  You can't bite your nails or pick your nose wearing a mask; and

3.  It gives the wearer of the mask a higher chance of starting with a low inoculum in the event of becoming infected.  This gives the immune system more time to fight the infection, leading to a better prospect of a better disease outcome.

There are also social advantages.  A mask is a stark visual reminder that we need to keep our distance from each other generally, something that is easy to forget as by nature we are social creatures.

Ta

1) It catches the sharks but not the minnows.

2) it doesn’t, it prevents it whilst it’s on.  Your hands will still have the virus on them when you take the mask off And the mask will still have virus on it.

3) That doesn’t follow at all based on 1 & 2.

Mmm, perhaps on the last one.

1. Better than nothing so you're tacitly admitting that they do in fact work;

2.  Wash your hands after you take it off. Or wear gloves. Or do both, wear gloves and wash your hands after disposing of the gloves; and

3.  Of course it does, it's plain common sense.

You're the one who admitted that the sharks get caught. I'm using your logic/analogy,  not mine.  You're basically arguing with yourself at this point.

What? Using a shark net to catch minnows. Catching the sharks isn’t the issue, it’s not catching the minnows that counts.

For the hard of thinking sharks are big, minnows are small.

Of course it's the issue. Sharks are more dangerous than minnows.  Everyone knows that.  There ain't no "Minnows 4: The Revenge".

And to reiterate, for the hard of thinking, nobody is arguing that masks eliminate the risk. Not one person.  But they do reduce the risk, by Rico's own admission.

Nice one, Rico.

Yes, that’s just what’s happened.

christ.

It's far, far better to get hit by a small viral load (minnow) than a big one (shark).   Think of how many sharks we'd get rid of if everyone wore a mask.

Nice analogy/logic, mate.  I might use that more.

The UK Government is running a campaign slogan "act like you've got it".  The WHO website currently recommends wearing a mask if you've tested positive or are showing symptoms.  Therefore if you need to act like you've got it, you must wear a mask in public.

Logic.
