Sterling: I love Liverpool and they are still in my heart

We aren’t going anywhere near him.  He’s the most anti-Klopp player going based on his personality.  I don’t believe he did leave for money though.  Of course it helps to earn more at city which was going to happen but he left because it was the easy option.  City were a guarantee of winners medals never mind just challenging and we were going backwards.

Klopp used to mention wanting players who wanted to be part of a team which become winners not just turn up and get handed medals. It’s what makes the Van Dijk signing unbelievable really.  He’s the best centre back in the history of football and he decided to come here when he could have just gone to city.  He’s going to be revered on Gerrard/Dalglish level when he retires.

The problem for the players who make the Sterling decision like Torres, Owen and Coutinho as well is that they realise how hollow it all becomes.  They could have been legends here where it matters.  Treated like gods and spoken about for years.  Instead they go to clubs that can’t sell out finals never mind their own stadium.  They win trophies and earn money but nobody cares.  They look at how the legends get treated and realise that’s what they really want because money can’t buy it.
