Alan Partridge has never even elicited a smile from me, I don't know why.  I feel like I should like Partridge cos everyone else says it's very funny, and I like Steve Coogan in other stuff (especially Paul and Pauline Calf which makes me piss myself) - it's just not the least bit funny to me.  It's an odd phenomenon. 

What you are saying applies to both of these for me. I never found Father Ted funny much at all but at least I understand what Partridge was going for with that 'uncomfortable and embarrassing' comedy like The Office did later. Partridge for me but they should both be knocked out in this round,about their level,like England in major tournaments.

Father Ted might raise a titter in me perhaps twice an episode.  Partridge however, nothing, nada, it has no effect on me other than bemusement like "Why is that funny?".  Puzzling.

Find partridge a bit hit and miss but those 6 episodes where he’s living in the Linton travel tavern were absolute genius. 
 

Father Ted had some great episodes, especially the caravan one with father Noel but the father jack character just wasn’t funny and the overuse of feck killed it for me.
