I never got some mother's do have em. I just thought it was shite. I was only a kid when I watched it, so maybe there was something there over my head, but I just thought it was shite.

Porridge by a fucking mile. It was great when I was a kid and still good now.

Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em was a lot of slapstick and visual comedy which isn't really done any more without the aid of special effects or instead using animated characters. It was brilliant back in its time and Michael Crawford was fantastic in it but it may seem dated now. Porridge on the other hand was brilliant back in it's day and is still brilliant now through it's constant repeats. Had to be Porridge but Some Mothers Do Ave Em was excellent too.

I did watch it when I was younger but I was young and maybe remember it from 80s repeats. I still didn't get it!

Porridge. No one is going to want to draw them in the next round

Fawlty Towers and only fools and horses are capable of springing a shock surely Andy?

Not for me Clive. Porridge has the guile and creativity to win this one hands down. The others are great don't get me wrong, but there's only going to be one winner.

Ronnie Barker was first choice for the character of Frank Spencer. Not sure how that would have worked, it would have been a very different show.

Is that true? Bloody hell. Never would have worked.

Just going by what the BBC page says:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/somemothers/

Though the BBC had wanted Norman Wisdom or Ronnie Barker for the role, Crawford was the perfect choice, combining an air of innocence with the youth and athleticism necessary to perform some of the biggest and most dangerous stunts British comedy would ever see.

Norman Wisdom I can sort of imagine, but even back then he would surely have been too old.

The same bbc you accused of lying about jo swinson being a wizard in the ku klux klan? Right.
