Phoenix Nights for me too. Not even that close really. Royal Family had its moments of course but Phoenix Nights had laugh out loud moments every 2 minutes.

"And the answer to question 7, The Shroud of Turin"

"Oh for fuck sake"

"Fuck"

"Argh"

"what did we have?"

"Lisa Stansfield"

Based on being in virus  lockdown PN worth a rewatch loads of visual and verbal aside gags that were missed cause you were laughing first time round.

That’s really tough. I love Phoenix Nights but The Royle Family is arguably the greatest of them all.

I defy anyone who lived up North as a kid not to see a little glimpse into their family life in there. Great characters, funny, warm and sad in equal measures.

I remember my dad crying when Nana died, reminded him of when his Nan (my Nin) passed away. She live in the one of the downstairs rooms in one of those big hospital beds.

I also remember getting sent up the shops and getting a chocolate bar for everyone as a treat. I love that scene, no words for a couple of minutes and just watching it with pure joy on my face.

It was consistently brilliant.

Just now, Vincent Vega said:

What about The Young Ones?

To be fair to Stig, it would have taken ages to get everyone to agree on the 16. As he's said, maybe 32 would have worked but it'll be the same winner in the end. Fair play to him for a bit of fun and getting started without endless debate.

Men Behaving Badly though.....

Phoenix Nights is probably my favourite 'newer' sitcom , bought the scripts on Amazon for 1p and tears were streaming down my face for days.

My brother-in-law sang in the clubs for years and the characters and carryings-on  were realised brilliantly. He had a running joke dedicating Simply the Best to me as I fucking hate that song , but unfortunately announced me as his friend one time in a rugby club in St Helen's and I nearly got filled in in the toilets by a couple of local lads who thought we were a gay couple.
