A thing I don't get with this, is surely refs must watch games.

Every single person in the stadium and the footballing world (remember the joy from the commentators over there about their rolling and Costa coming on to kick and roll), yet refs seem oblivious to it time and again. It makes no sense unless you believe refs are actually stupid and ignorant. This is not a sly dig at the refs but it is the only conclusion I can draw.

I wonder if they ever watch MOTD , presumably not or Ashley Barnes would be out of a job.

No sign of Keita

Folks like Keita and Lovren are the antithesis of what’s needed tonight. Bit surprised Milner hasn’t got a game here. No passengers tonight.

Need to go for the jugular, no point wondering what might have been. Get an early goal hopefully and these cunts will flap like fuck.

KLOPP: ANFIELD LIKE NO OTHER

Jurgen Klopp in his programme notes...

"It is unavoidable to recognise that one of our visitors’ big qualities is the ability to defend something they already have. Arguably they are the world’s best at it – in all sporting disciplines. But we don’t look on this fact as daunting. No, the opposite. What a fantastic challenge.

"The key word tonight will be intensity. Madrid will have it – we know this. So we must have higher intensity, in the positive sense, in all that we do.

"On nights like this, the Anfield crowd is the transfer that no other club can ever acquire, no matter how much they crave it. It can’t be copied or replicated. It’s special to us. It is ours and we must always cherish its positive impact."

Can't shake the feeling we'll be going out tonight, probably on away goals. We've not been in great form and Atleti are masters at defending in numbers, slowing the pace, disrupting flow and generally doing everything we've got a weakness to.

Need a far better tempo than we've had of late if we're to break them down.

This is a big test tonight. Normally I wouldnt be that bothered facing a 0-1 scoreline but, our dip in form has come at an inconvenient time. Hopefully, with the crowd roaring the boys on, the win against Bournemouth boosting confidence and a ref who dont take any shithousery, the boys will drag us into the next round.

We need to be relentless and probably get a bit of luck.
