It's not an expression I could say I've ever genuinely observed in real life. But is it fair to say that every time I see Robert Jenrick he looks like he's been interrupted on the way to taking a shit. Like trying to look nonchalant but really focused at the same time, all the while talking like he has something more urgent on his mind.

he looks like somone who would cheerfully work at Auschwitz

As the prime minister arrived in the Commons chamber, he tapped Safeguarding Minister Jess Phillips on the shoulder.

Before a word had been spoken, the row about child sexual exploitation was dominating PMQs.

And so it continued in the exchanges between Starmer and Badenoch.

At the core of the exchanges, whether there should be a public inquiry into what has happened.

The PM sought to try to take the heat out of things by acknowledging there are honestly held differences of opinion on this question.

But the heat is there – without question.

The government is determined to bat away calls for another inquiry, arguing it would take years and years and the focus now should be action.

Kemi Badenoch argued the scale of the depravity demanded further investigation.

mason again

not one mention that as childrens minister, Badenoch didn’t reference the grooming scandal once and the Tories failed to implement any of the recommendation’s

Tomorrow the Conservatives are calling for another inquiry.. That's despite the Conservatives setting up that 7 year £200 million independent inquiry on child sexual abuse.. And then the Conservative government didn't implement any of the 20 recommendations.. Isn't calling for another one the very definition of political opportunism?

You're in deep trouble if people are willing to swallow this level of hypocrisy.

Kemi Badenoch has said “peasants” from “sub-communities” in some countries are the ones in grooming and rape gangs, and that a national inquiry would seek to identify those in authority who did not act.

“There are some places where, when people behave in that way, a mob turns up and burns their homes down, and then they know that they can’t do that sort of thing,” the Conservative leader told GB News.

“What for me is most extraordinary about this case is that clearly these people thought that they could get away with it. That is the thing that we should be looking at.”
