The noise coming through from our heartbroken politicians is the best way to prevent another like for like killing is to stop certain people using twitter, or to be more precise stop certain people using twitter to say nasty things about politicians. The fact that presently their is no evidence the murderer had a twitter account or ever even used twitter is completely irrelevant.

Yes. A very strange development in this story. Particularly when nobody has reacted to this death by criticising the role that the press play in stimulating hatred and abuse toward politicians.

I don't think they've lost their minds at all, they've seized on an opportunity to curb anonymous criticism of themselves. Not a mention of abuse and hate spoken in the media and printed press though, which sort of explains their goals, I'm sure the free speech boys will be along in a minute,

The only people for whom it's been about Nick Clegg is you. Why do you think a Liberal would go and work for Facebook in the first place? Use your brain. Every negative story about Facebook "not paying taxes", "not doing enough to stop extremism" and so on was only ever about one thing: CONTROL. Facebook is beyond the control of governments and they hate it. Fortunately they have enough useful idiots to run interference for them, so when the clampdown comes, there'll barely be a whimper of opposition.

 My view is that this is for the birds and won't happen. Johnson grandstanding when he knows full well any serious attempt to legislate will get watered down, mired in legal challenges and probably very easy to ignore in practice due to a complete lack of resources to police the thing. Very soon the public will wake up again to the fact we have the highest Covid rates in the world and booster jabs nowhere to be seen. Restrictions will be back and this will be largely yesterdays news.
