Problem is the potential speed of transmission isn’t it.

The flip side to that is the speed of response in terms of vaccination.

With the focus on it now - that response will be at most 6 months.

They moved the Womens World Cup on account of SARS.

I do not expect the Olympics to be moved or abandoned at this point - do you?

Lets face it, you only need a whiff of petrol shortages in the UK and you get loads of people buying a year’s worth of tinned food and queuing for 3 days to fill their tank up. Tell them there’s an emerging infectious disease originating from no-name animal on the way and you could write the script.

This. People are fucking cunts. Selfish thick stupid cunts.

The shops (loads are still open anyway) close on Christmas day for one fucking day but you try getting a loaf or a pint of milk on Christmas Eve. No chance because Joyce has bought the shops supply "just incase" the fucking pickle-head.

(In response to Jordy’s post about current UK cases).

Problem is the potential speed of transmission isn’t it. If those people are quarantined it should be fine. But if for example 11 people infected 11 people each, it would quickly zoom out of control in terms of its reach.

I don’t feel like that part is where hysteria and hyperbole are taking over so much. It’s the likely affect of that to the vast majority of individuals beyond having an unpleasant short-term illness which seems to have got people losing their minds.

Totally and geometric spread is a possibility. The thing is that kind of spread needs something to kick it off. In South Korea it was some cult that went over to China and brought it back. Thank god we haven't had that kind of trigger here - yet.

Don't get me wrong I've been watching this very closely and it is very serious. The Dow Jones is in absolute meltdown now.

What I'm saying is we are 4 wins from mathematically winning it and no trigger event for that kind of spread has yet hit the UK. So my council (supposing you want it) is to keep calm and carry on.

The Dow is always looking for a reason to "self correct". Been struggling to come to grips with the effects of China's manufacturing position for the last few years.

There have been what - 10 deaths outside mainland China?

Agreed the Dow was massively overvalued. What's happening now looks more than a mere "correction". At least potentially.

Yes. 17 deaths in Italy.

Authorities in Italy announced the deaths of four more coronavirus patients on Friday, bringing the number of people who have died from the illness to 21. Here's the latest information on the situation in Italy.

It's an utter bollocks story and here's why.

UEFA demand for the Champions League, one club from each national association be submitted as Champions and from a league like the PL, 2nd. 3rd and 4th placed teams. Champions go in Pot 1. They also need to know who's 2nd, 3rd and 4th to work out tv pool money and future co efficients to secure future number of teams who qualify. Similarly with the Europa League.

If the PL decides the season is null and void, there'll be no English clubs in UEFA competition next season. And that will impact future qualification in subsequent years.

Additionally, the PL needs to distribute prize money based on club's final position in the league. Then you have clubs in The Championship who have 'won' promotion and those relegated from the PL. That will ripple all the way down the English football pyramid.

Im sure Sky and BT who have paid hundreds of millions for televised games are also going to be well impressed.

Was this story circulated by that cunt custis or some other cunt working at the daily manc?

Don't forget that for around 80% this virus causes mild or no symptoms. Poeple have also been shown to be asymptomatic and carrying the virus.  It is very likely much much more widespread that we know, particularly as countries omly seem to test those who have links to other countries where more testing has showed a greater number of infections. It's serious because the estimated mortality rate is 2%, mainly the elderly and those with existing health conditions, but does anyone really believe that there are only what 19 people in the whole of the UK with this thing? Or what 16 in the USA? It's a virus that spreads like a cold FFS! It's going to be everywhere. If you test everyone with a cold then the panic will really start! The problem is that we haven't seen this virus form before and the mortality which is causing the mass hysteria, totally understandable though if you are in the vulnerable groups.

As for the footie, play the games behind closed doors if we're going into the realms of quarantining. If we win those 4 games quickly then at leaST they can hand us the title as nobody could argue against that!

Its proper clickbait for our fans to see what it's all about. Plus the Mancs and bitters probably jizzed their keks over it and read it then forwarded it to everyone they know.

Too much TV money involved to cancel it. At the very worst it would be suspended for a period and then played behind closed doors.

As of this afternoon the Metro tweet had two replies from Utd fans. Nobody else has give it more than the short shrift it deserves.

Worth bearing in mind that all those potential unreported cases you mention don't factor into the 2% mortality rate calculation.

Yeah, you can guarantee the other major leagues won't just declare the competitions null and void. If it reached the point of behind closed doors play being impossible, I think you’d either have to effectively declare where it is or have club representatives draw straws to decide each of the remaining fixtures.

If they say the games have to be played, there’s a comparatively meaningless international tournament in the summer that can be cancelled before it begins in order to free up the time. Given the money at stake and potential havoc losing a league season would cause, I doubt any of the major European leagues would object.
