Personally I think that's fair given the circumstances but obviously there'll be uproar from clubs that still had a realistic chance of staying up.

Sam Wallace in the Telegraph reporting the PL's intention of re starting the league on 8 June. Sorry, it's behind a paywall so only part of the article.

 

The Premier League have circulated a proposed timetable to clubs for a return to action which would see them back in full training on May 18, with the league programme resuming three weeks after that on June 8.

The Daily Telegraph understands that the plans will be discussed individually with clubs today ahead of the shareholders conference on Friday with a timetable that is subject to government approval.

It works on the basis that the next government announcement on lockdown a week today, May 7, eases the measures currently in place. From then, the proposed plan is to test players for Covid-19 over the following weekend, May 9-10, with a view to training in small groups the following Monday (May 11)....

Although it clearly benefits us in terms of it setting a precedent they are a different set of circumstances.  We are a big club here but PSG are basically the number one selling point over there and I wouldn’t be surprised if the people in charge are scared of being bankrupted by legal challenges because they’ve got infinite money behind them.

The Guardian seem to be setting their stall out that they don’t want it to return.  From the same information above they’ve gone with a headline that suggests it’s unlikely and being played down.  When you actually read the article they say that things can’t return unless the government say so which everyone knows anyway and use the fact that it’s not the 7th May yet as evidence of this.

 

I think if the league came out and said Liverpool are winning the title if we don’t return then we would actually get some honest opinions from everyone and some actual critical thought about whether it’s worth it or not instead of all this agenda driven shite from the usual suspects.

Precedent though and just like if Celtic and Brugge get awarded their titles, good to see.

Still want the league completed.

 

Is it just me or is it getting a lot less attention than if say they declared no champion?

There are so many issues with trying to restart, which I'm not going to go into.

 

In the grand scheme of things any sport is pretty irrelevant right now.

 

It's quite clear that the sponsorship and TV revenue is trying to get the league back on.

 

Any focus right now should be on supporting all lower league clubs to ensure they survive this crisis.
