110/114. Christ.

I heard a fella on 5 Live say to that Robbie Savage back before Christmas that we'd get 108 points this season. I thought he was mad and nearly pissed myself laughing.

I sincerely hope he has a few quid on us to get that number of points because he's looking to be nearer the total than I ever thought possible.

Was it my imagination or did I read suggestion that this 110/114 point colossal European Cup winning red machine was going to be pulled back into a title fight had we drawn this game, what, with our measly 20 point lead as it stood. The most stressful element of the game now should be whether we can get through this season unbeaten. 11 games to go; hopefully there will be 0 rotation of the first 11 in the league while that is still on the table. If we get through Watford & Bournemouth then the City and Everton games will be absolutely massive

I guess football ceased to exist between 86-89 ?

Fuck off Sky bastards.

To be fair the 86-88 (3 seasons) that team would only have got 10 points given Carra and Neville's criteria. Obviously no Europe hurts them.

They could have put the Liverpool team of 79-81 in and they would have garnered 14 points. A few Manchester united teams that weren't included would have got high points also e.g. 94-96 team. I think they were just being selective so they could include the Leeds Forest Spurs teams in the discussion.

Agree with that mate. I Really enjoyed that discussion. Carra and Neville are very good to watch on MNF.

Read the thread back after the game and surprised at the panic with 40 minutes left. It’s as if a lot of fans have not actually been watching us this season.

I am definitely on the ‘ glass half empty’ side of the football equation but I never thought we would lose at any point. It struck me as a game where the team expected to win easily ( like us fans ) and got into gear once they had a kick up the arse by their second goal. Added to rubbish weather and a muted crowd it was just ‘ one of those games ‘ and we won it.

On the bright side I have been worrying that eventually we would play someone whose every shot would fly in , it happened last night and we still got 3 points.

The normal cycle of the last few decades is build a decent team, finish second, fall to shit the following season.

How did we get to the point where, in our scheduled "fall to shit" season, we're not just winning the thing, we're looking at everybody's all-time records and counting up which ones we can break?

(There's a three-word answer to that question and the middle word is Norbert.)

In terms of the ideal of invincibility, I think there are 11 hard games to go.

Indeed, every team left to play will want to be the ones who can brag about stopping us going a whole season undefeated. Especially Everton and City who'll celebrate as if they have won a trophy. If it is meant to be that we fail at one hurdle then I hope it's against someone like Watford and not either of those two cunts mentioned. We've had a few patchy performances of late but we still find a way to win, plus plenty of teams fans would still like to produce the football we are instead of parking the bus which they get to see on a regular basis.

I like to view it as being of a piece with how Shitcoat is having third season syndrome in the third month. Isn't life grand?

City I could just about handle, but Everton........

I genuinely think they would give out medals.
