Can't see why Butland would come here to be second fiddle and the only likelihood of games being in the FA Cup.

We'll probably triple his wages and give him the chance of winning something albeit as a squad player?

I used to be a top dinosaur mascot in my youth, had trials with AC Milan, Ajax, Valencia and Swindon Town, but a bad tail injury and an addiction to Kale ruined a promising career

I thought it was a serious ankyl[osaurus] injury that did it for you?

I dunno if he's good enough, but he'll play more than the fa cup, he'll get a fuck load of games in the CL and PL over the time alisson is injured and the bloke is looking like he gets a few injuries for a keeper. It would have been tough to convince someone a few weeks back, but now alisson is fucked, it's a much easier sell.

Not really unless Butland is matey with TAA from England duty and has him promising to attack Alisson in training every so often.

Alisson is out now though. Klopp is saying 6 weeks, but he's normally on the hopeful end of any time line. It wouldn't shock me of alisson was out for 8 or 10 weeks. What would you sooner do, have a dozen games for Liverpool this season or 46 taking Stoke down to league 1?

I just can't see Klopp, now, chucking Adrian in the sea. I think he'll be in nets for the next couple of months and Klopp will instruct everyone not to pass him the ball.

With Matip (for however long) and Henderson back, and maybe Milner playing some games, he'll hopefully have less to do.

Isn't it a bit of a concern that Stoke don't want him? I mean is he actually any better than Adrian?

It cannot be over-emphasised how broken Adrian is. His past 4 competitive fixtures outside of the Carabao Cup have been Atletico, Chelsea, Bournemouth & Villa. Absolute calamity in 3 of those 4. The club is presumably at the point where it would be Karius-levels of madness not to take some sort of action.

But land can't get a game for Stoke either

Never really recovered from that injury a few years back, it's a shame as he looked very promising.

If we could get another foreign player out I'd be bringing in Subasic, always looked decent for Croatia.

Butland is a shockingly bad keeper. Over-rated as a youngster, terrible with his feet, poor shot stopper and full of mistakes. The Stoke fans will be delighted to see him go.

Signing him is basically an act of desperation as we've realised Adrian should have been replaced in the Summer but it's too late to get anyone else. At best he's no upgrade on what we have.

Really not many options around, especially with it needing to be a home grown player unless we could ship Shaqiri out. Can only think of Butland, Gunn, Forster, Camp who don't start for teams.

Tom Heaton isn't fit yet, though supposed to be close to being fit, would be a good option for the long term. He isn't going to get back in the Villa team after they spent 20ml on Martinez

A quick google would suggest Butland's not exactly in the form of his life, either, though.

Yup, no idea- haven't seen him play in years & even then hardly paid attention. The Adrian-problem is pretty untenable though, that's for sure. He's been so bad that its probably increasingly hard for the club to justify putting him on the pitch in competitive fixtures. Where's the kind of mediocre-but-steady hand of a Paul Jones type when you need them?

Romero from United would have been an example of a decent back up probably. Adrian being released by West Ham of all clubs should have set terrifying alarm bells off - their goalkeeping options almost got them relegated last season.
