In a world where we got £19m for Solanke, I shouldn't be surprised that City might sell Angelino for £27m, but I am.

Out of interest, what do you think was the greatest sales grift of the Klopp era to date?

  1. SERGI CANOS TO NORWICH - £4.5M
  2. JORDON IBE TO BOURNEMOUTH - £15M
  3. BRAD SMITH TO BOURNEMOUTH - £6M
  4. CHRIS BENTEKE TO PALACE - £32M
  5. ILLORI TO READING - £3.75M
  6. KEVIN STEWART TO HULL - £8M
  7. MAM SAKHO TO PALACE - £26M
  8. COUTINHO TO BARCA - £142M
  9. DOM SOLANKE TO BOURNEMOUTH - £19M
  10. CAMACHO TO SPORTING  - £7M
  11. MIGNOLET TO BRUGES - £8.2M
  12. KENT TO RANGERS - £7.5M
  13. BOBBY DUNCAN TO FIORENTINA - £1.8M
  14. LOVREN TO ZENIT - $10.9M

In no particular order:

Coutinho - because he went for a world record fee (for a buyer not using oil funds), funded all our league-and-CL-winning signings, and has been so lacklustre since he went that we just don't miss him.

Ibe/Solanke - £35m for two players with a handful of appearances and two goals is daylight robbery, especially when you consider how shite Bournemouth have been.

Kevin Stewart - we swapped an uninspiring reserve player for the best LB in the league. Outstanding business.

Benteke/Sakho - got our money back despite them being older and less appealing than when we signed them.

Would probably lean towards Kev Stewart based on the obviousness of the heist and the simplicity of the outcome: traded shit player for good one.

If we got Kostas, thiago and Suarez this summer with lovren, gruic, Wilson and maybe divock leaving, I would feel quite happy with the summer. It doesn't help us much lowering the average age of the squad, but it would certainly bring some top quality to help in a season where rotation is likely to play a bigger part than normal.

Muppetry but if we did this, we'd have had an A* window.

Out: 76m

Lallana (Free, High Wages

Clyne (Free, Medium Wages)

Lovren (11m, High Wages)

Wilson (20m, Low Wages)

Grujic (20m, Low Wages)

Origi (25m, Low Wages)

In: 99m

Kostas (12m, Low Wages)

Thiago (27m, High Wages)

Suarez (Free, High Wages)

Attacker/Winger (35m, Medium Wages)

CB (15m, Low Wages)

Net spent <30m (without Wijnaldum leaving)

Had a premonition (probably due to PTSD) that we didn’t get Thiago (he went to Chelsea instead) and Melissa Reddy and James Pearce had released articles to the effect of “Liverpool, as they have always insisted, had no interest in the player given the abundance of midfield options already available to Klopp. Those in the clubs hierarchy were privately bemused at the continual suggestions of Liverpool’s interest through the German media, given no contact was ever made. The club will now proceed into next season as originally planned - with Klopp giving promising youngsters such as Curtis Jones the chance to stake their claim in the first team”

I can’t help but having a nagging feeling that that’s how it’s going to play out.
