I think he could wait a year to see what his options are. He's playing at a great club with some of the best young players in the world. If he waits a year, then he is likely to have his pick of a number of top clubs rather than just one.

I think he would walk to us. I could see FSG doing the deal in 2021 with the fee being covered by Mo or Sadio. A younger and very marketable player. Not saying he will be at Mo ot Sadio's level in 2021, but he is a signing for the next decade. In terms of wages, we won't make him the highest paid player, bit they might work around it bt giving him a hefty sign on fee. Regarding the agent, that is astronomical and a piss take, so that could be a sticky point.

Not sure I see the club paying him the reputed 300+k a week he's rumoured to be on with Dortmund, Ronnie lad. And players never seem to take a wage cut.

Personally, I think the Sancho, Havertz and Mbappe ships have sailed.Well, the Mbappe one never got off the slipway in my opinion!

What's insane about the Sancho deal is agent fees to the tune of 50million. Zorc did the same with Dembele saying he was part of their squad no matter what and 2 weeks later, he signed for Barca for a record sum. But Dembele also went AWOL which left Dortmund with no choice. Sancho is not exactly pushing for a move so the scums will have to pay the full amount or forget about him. Also reports say Dortmund are pissed off with the scums and have offered Sancho to other interested sides quoting lesser agent fees.

so the deal is 120m + 50m agent fees or the agent fees are built into the 120m?

Possibly Docker. I mean if I was an elite player and someone said we're going to give you 200k and a gigantic sign on fee to cover the extra 100k, I'd be happy out, but I think with a lot of players, it's nearly a status thing. Not a hope they allow him to earn more than Virgil for example. I guess that's a huge part of the reason we are what we are. No egos and all good lads.

he is pretty much everywhere reported to earn 11m euros per year. although that would still put him on a par with our top earners. Sancho seems as likely as Mbappe.

Do the players have secondary agents who advise them on the deals they sign with their primary agents?

Why would you sign with an agent who is taking such a whacking big slice when that might stop you moving where you want to go?

No. Red bull had a deadline. We asked him to wait till a similar clause kicked in the following season. The story about was red bull wanted the money then, although it would feel to me Werner wanted to get his move.

Oh aye, but it was Werner we asked to wait, not Sancho, was the main thing.

I think where it gets murky is that players have an agent, the buying club may have an agent and the selling club yet another agent. And they all want a slice of the deal.

That ONeil who joined our U23 backroom staff said he was on the verge of joining Liverpool when another agent got in touch and said do the deal through him else the transfer is off. He says the deal was all sorted through his own agent so ignored the guy. The deal didnt happen so how this other agent stopped the deal is anyone's guess.

Not sure where he’d play.

I saw him in the League Cup against Chelsea autumn / winter 2018 in midfield. Busy, good on the ball, decent without much room. In a way he wasn't unlike Gini, though obviously it was a while ago & he's been injured since (or for a big spell). He's young, he'd be on the bench for a while before anywhere near our starting XI. All that said, I've no idea where he's been playing for Bournemouth this past few months?

Eh? I disagree - I think they do. I'm sure you've heard Jurgen specifically talking about the importance of good squad morale, harmony and doing the right thing for the player. Some of it is fluff but it's largely the reason he's such a brilliant manager.

Norwich now have a fucked off LB in their ranks and no doubt, all of their other players who wanted PL moves will take note (Cantwell, Aarons, etc). Good luck to them at finding a club who'll give them what they value him at after we've publicly walked away - I agree he'll find another club but I don't think they'll get more than 12m for him.

I'm not saying they were obliged to sell to us, but I don't think we'd have walked away unless they were being pretty absurd with their valuation. Noises of "20m and we can start talking" are ridiculous if true. I don't think Liverpool wanted a back and forth saga over a backup LB, and Norwich unfortunately didn't read the room.

Lastly, poor lad. Im really happy with Tsimikas (he was my preference based on what I've seen and read) but Lewis is a talented British fullback who has publicly gushed over our two British world-class fullbacks and was willing to take a pay cut as in investment in his career. I like the idea of players like that playing for us and I hope he finds an alternative club where he can succeed.

Yeah, Lewis is probably disappointed, but given his temperament, I suspect he'll put that to the side when pre-season starts & he has to start competing for his place again. He's got a decent mindset for a relative youth, so I don't think he'll be rocking the boat at Norwich too much. I suspect he'll keep his head down, work hard & get a move to a better club in due time. Leicester might well be a good shout (from whoever made it).

If we're convinced of his fitness (potential for a failed medical) I'd get Brooks signed. Think he has real quality. Either from the right, or if we play with a more advanced midfielder, or even potential cover for Bobby.

Main danger for him is becoming a bit of a Dele Alli and overspecialising in a luxury position thatll make him a difficult tactical fit at times.

Can't find much of substance supporting the story though so it's prob bollocks.

I seriously doubt Sancho's agent will be getting anything like £50m. Agent fees are published every year, we've been top of that pile for the last couple of years and 'only' paid £30m (ludicrously, in the main on contract renewals) in 19/20 and £44m the year before.

£50m for an agent on one transfer doesn't pass the smell test for me.

The media will be rolling all sorts of estimates into it to get a nice click bait headline.  I don’t know much about how agents work these days but I’m sure they used to take a percentage of the salary that the player earns. If Sancho signs a deal at united that’s around 300k a week and that was to be between 10-20% to the agent then it starts to add up to a lot of money, add that to an agent fee that the buying club pays the agent and a selling club one and you get your fat number.  As I say I’m guessing but I think the reality is that only one of those things tends to happen (maybe two at a push) and if the agent is getting fees from more than one place then the other stream gets lowered because it will be a negotiation on who is paying the them.

Ive no idea how football agents get paid. But didnt that agent of pogba's, Raiola get a ludicrous amount for doing that deal ie something like 40m?

I'd be really surprised if that would all be paid by one club. Perhaps there would be a payment from the seller, the buyer and the player. So if it were £40m perhaps it would be profit based (seller), salary/signing fee based (player) and fee based (buyer). However it works, unlikely to be just from the buying club.

Yes, would agree with that.

It's probably been said before but it wouldn't make a lot of sense to be signing Sarr given he's African and a forward, seeing as we'll be losing two African forwards for the AFCON already (assuming they're both still here of course)

Klopp has devised a model to counter this and he practised it last season. It's easy, all you need to do is win all the games up to Christmas and let the lads go off and enjoy the tournament.
